    Default Front Strut insert fitting

Just checked the front end and i need a new r/hand strut,as there's nil rebound damping.Recent trip to Longreach must have dudded him as the roads were horrendous(:
    Are these available singly?Cost?
Can they be done at home easy enough?Does the bottom ball joint have to come off?
Or is it simpler as the name "insert" suggests?
    cheers

Thanks jas, went and bought a Gabriel for $70,looks like it sits in the strut proper and is held in place with a screw ring at the top.
It would be nice if it just slips in at the top without to much disassembly. Will start investigating in the morning.

you will need to remove the entire strut assembly from the vehicle, three nuts at the top and the ball joint, then you will need a spring compressor, if you undo the top nut in the centre without compressing the spring you will do yourself some injury (possibly hand/s, face and or head) then when you get out of hospital you will need the spring compressor to re-assemble the stut assembly. hope this helps.

yeh you will need spring compressors but if your car is lowered you might get away with no spring compressor but if its stock height then that means the springs will be under allot of stress resulting in the need for the compressors otherwise as suggested you many get seriously hurt and/or killed......that said..... you also dont need to remove it from the ball joint as it is possible to do it while still attatched as i have done it countless number of times
