is it possible to replace the panel under the rear windscreen in the VL?
Yes, and for the boot channel, yes.

it seems holden left the front and rear screen openings as bare metal on the assembly line, try rare spares, they supply the front
I put fishoil on mine in the hope it creeps in to where needed
remember the rear glass is toughened so dont touch the edges anywhere or it may shatter
The whole lot has to come out, as the rust has gotten around under the parcel shelve as well.....I've noticed the join on either side below the rear windscreen so was hoping the whole thing can be replaced
check your local wreckers for a good one then off to a good crash repairer to have it installed.
Nobody wants to play with me
nevyn, might pay to check out the front too that way you can replace the rear section, fix the rust under the front screen and paint the 1/4's, scuttle panel and the roof all at once without having to blend paint anywhere (no chance of delamination later down the track)
but actually pull the frront screen out to check, just because you cant see it past the rubber dosent mean its not there

thanks wildss.....its me sons VL. we were at pick-a-part today and he asked the bloke there about the panel. is the panel u see under the rear screen all one piece with the parcel shelve? and he has a leak under the dash on the drivers side, so the windscreen is coming out.
no the parcel shelf is seprate to the rear gusset panel
it is spot welded along the flang your window sits on, you need to drill the welds to seprate them
as for harrys post about not painting it, he is incorrect.
its a design fault which lets water sit in the corner and eventually rust though
when they paint a car its a empty shell, nothing is masked up to save paint
