the CL kits are only about $30 new and i would reccomend new as they are touchy if they have had a bit of water or dust or whatever through them.
you can get the alarm kits with the remote adn alarm from pretty much anywhere. i think even kmart has them, most kits will link up to a separate cl kit very easily.

The hardest bit will probably be to find somebody that wants to install any kind of central locking kit into a vl. Out of everywhere that I've asked they've all cringed and basically turned me down. People will do anything for the right cost though.

Bex i know the feeling, i have had to move the cl on my vl from my original install because basically the actuators you buy off the shelf dont fit anywhere in the thin commodore doors. pain in the arse. i finally found a spot they work perfectly but lots of scun knuckles doing so!

original placement was down the bottom of teh door, running up and down rather than accrossways as the locks do. this worked well until the slightest movement of teh actuators caused them not to lock anymore.
the new positioning seems to work well. i have to fix a speaker wire today so ill pull of the trims and put some pics up later. the back doors were really easy to but ill bung up a pic anyway with a few things i learned as i went.

Heh its obvious the standard alarm that was released (I think its the Cobra alarm) doesn't work. I had my car stollen about two years ago now.. I wasn't happy. I awoke to my mum bursting through my bedroom door in the middle of a REALLY great dream at 6:29am (I took note) saying "Someone just stole your car!!" I thought it wasa joke naturally so I went out to find the ignition barrel in the driveway where my car was... and got all teary eyed. Four hours later (for a change) the cops told me that they found it so I called my insurrance company and told them they can pic it up. 3 weeks later, after much anticipation and nervousness, I went to inspect the car with the "damage", expecting seats to be cut, windows smashed and parts missing.. thankfully, it was only the ignition barrel and they tried to take my faceless stereo. Course, they would have thrashed the hell out of it because it chewed a timing key not long after lol. Now I sleep with a oxy welded home made baton next to my bed and a sword in my cupboard

So in a short answer.. depending on how much you love your car, get the best alarm you can
