    Default VL Coil

me son and his mate degreased & washed his engine in his VL last week.....hasn't been able to start it since....he was told it could be the dizzy, replaced that today, still no go...I took the lead off the dizzy cap from the coil and had no spark at all.....could it be the coil has died?....if so, how much would another one be?

did you replace the whole distributor? or just the cap? with new or 2nd hand? is the rubber boot on the dizzy(crank angle sensor) plug sealed or torn? may have water or degreaser inside the plug
    check your fuses.
Nobody wants to play with me

changed the cap first as his was cracked....still wouldn't fire, then changed the entire dizzy....didn't know about the rubber boot, so will check that today. But shouldn't there still be spark from the coil to the dizzy?

get an air blower onto every single plug in the engine bay

they tend to get water in the rubber boots that slide over the actual plastic connectors, so it's a bit of a pain to get out.

I've had this happen a few times - usually the multi pin plug on top of the dizzy.

and yep they do have error codes - you can find out on wiki.r31skylineclub.com on how to check them
