getting Kustom
VL Alternator URGANT
Ok well i have a 1986 vl calais series 1, its electromic fuel injection and the alternator doesnt charge the battery, so the battery goes flat, the fuel isnt injected and the car stalls.
All wires for the alt have been checked are connected fine, what is the problem, and is there a "How to" on how to fix it.

try replacing the regulator, its usually the main reason alternators die.

excuss me for sounding dumb, but where is the regulator in the vl?, I have a vt now and dont drive my calais much, iv never had to change much in the electric section on older cars. Also how much is a regulator

Ok, not to worry guys, i found the voltage regulator and have got it off, now i just need to know, where are they sold? how much, i need to buy one tomorrow

sprints, autobarn, supercheap, repco, any spareparts place will have them, & they are simple fit off & on.
make sure you disconnect the battery before you take it off or put it on if you arent removing the alternator from the car.
