possibly an employee number of the guy who rebuilt it?
i wouldnt think it has anything to do with the specs of the diff itself.
This is good site to watch.I found it informative as I have been researching a lot lately on such matters such as you talk about.
i would say "borg warner 3.08 reffering to the ratio of the diff.... i would say its the standard highway style diff. - correct me if i am wrong anyone.
probably something to do with the manufacturing. looks like there is some damage on the edge of the teeth on the crown wheel.
VL V8's came out standard with 3.08:1 gears fitted and 4 spider centre. the LSD center was optional from memory. the 6cyl VL's came with 3.45:1 gears standard and the LSD was optional.
gears from any BW78 will fit , including those fitted to aussie assembled skylines and fords.
