Here's my problem with my car atm
Basically it died while driving about 60km/h, no jolts..
After every tom, **** and harry saying it was the CAS
I replaced the dizzy itself as it was seized, the reason I now know why I lost power that night.
New bearing pressed in, shaft was cleaned, new cas, new rotor button, new cap... so basically a rebuilt one.
Although the VL manual says to set TDC at 0 degrees it wouldn't start, even after I set the rotor button on #1.. So I put it at 15 degrees and she started.
First time it ran ok for 30mins. Had it idling for 10mins before I took it for a short drive to check for pinging and detenation... all seemed ok
Just a street away from home, it started jolting and at first I thought it was a lead came off as it felt the same as when it did it a while back but wasn't it.
I put it down to a timing issue and got a few mates to look at it but still were a bit stumped on it and has gone way past my knowledge.
Got my hands on a timing gun, but noticed it doesn't start to flash unless you increase the revs to about 2000rpm +
A few minutes later it stalled. I have to adjuast the TDC to 15 degrees each time I wanna try and start it. It's giving me the absolute ****s and yeh
Any ideas??
sorry i cant help but your really getting desperate now arnt you??
If 2 mechanics and an auto elec couldn't figure it out, how am I supposed to?
maybe???
have you tried to time it from top dead center?
Won't start at all if set at 0 degress (TDC)
tryed you cas plug?
my old daily stopped randomly while driving at 50ks
took me a while in the dark to figger it was the inside of the plug, one of the cables had broke off
set it to TDC and get someone to turn it over while you wiggle the cas plug, see if that makes a diffrence

While wiggling the plug while on acc, the fuel pump you hear go on and off.
Changing plug atm..
See if that makes a difference![]()
i was running 18degrees advanced with no probs in my vl...
if the gun isnt picking it up could be a weak spark get an old plug that you know works n check each lead... could be a dud coil
and to set your timing... have #1 at TDC after exhaust stroke, line rotor up with #1lead on dizzy cap and then reinstall dizzy be sure to take notice of which way the rotor rotates as it slots into place and compensate by ajusting the whole dizzy
CAS plug changed and although it seems easier to start.
Keeping the revs over 1000rpm due to a lumpy cam, after just a few minutes it wants to stall and does
Took it a few goes to get it goin again and same issue, stalls after a minute or 2.

id say deffinatly electrical
electrics play up when either hot or cold
try another coil if you have one
Tried another coil... same problem![]()
okay so dizzy is practicaly new, coils been checked.. next bet is leads and plugs..
do the computer diagnostic and check for fault codes, see if anything comes up mate
Plugs have been changed.. was due for them anyway
Leads were checked as I have another set and same issue, so there ok.
Doing a dignostic check on a VLT ECU is the million dollar question.
They've been known to show codes even when nothing is wrong.
It shows every code except the starter circuit![]()
got a spare oxygen sensor laying round?
possible its that too..
check the exhaust for excess black smoke
Exhaust seems normal when it's running of course... lol
Doesn't the oxy sensor come in at higher rpm's tho?
oxygen sensor works with the afm to tell the computer how much fuel to give etc
question
when it starts to miss and try stalling.. what happens if you give it any throttle?
Giving it some throttle forces it to stall.
by that id put it down to lack of fuel..
check the fuel supply at the fuel rail mate
clogged cat
some one had a running issue ages ago and the cat was collapsed blocking it, barely ran or idled.
the engine can get the gas out and sufficates
might be a food for though

They found what they think is the problem
The bearing in the dizzy is ****ed and told me whoever put it in, didn't put it in properly.
Gonna fit a new one in and check over a few other things for me and I might get them to do my pumps and filter while it's there.
Would of done it myself, but the lines feel like there been superglued on.. lol
Got that problem fixed..
Had it for a 2 days and now my box decided to give way![]()
