my VL had a wobble under braking suggesting warped rotors or loose tie rod ends or perhaps loose wheel bearings
all these checked out OK so on a hunch I did several hard stops on a deserted road and no more problems
I assume it must have been some type of buildup of glaze on rotors and/or pads, as the car is always driven gently
anyone else ever experienced anything like this?
Do you still feel a slight shimmy through the wheel or pulsing through the pedal on soft extended braking periods? this would suggest to me that the rotors have excessive runout. Things like that happen for a reason and I doubt it was glazing.
Uneven material transfer can cause it. If you brake hard and then come to a stop with your brakes applied, it can transfer friction material to the rotor causing a high spot and vibration under brakes. Usually happens after some spirited driving.
I do the occasional hard stop and no more problems, rotors didnt seem warped when I turned them by hand, maybe some rust on rotors?
