    Default ticktickticktickticktickticktick

when first started, whats the cause?

    YouTube - 30122008084

I also think the oil pressure is taking a bit longer.

I first got the ticking with the old head after it cracked, and got water in one cylinder, and possibly also in the rocker cover.

this has all been replaced now, is there anything I can do to stop the ticking?

    1000k's ago maybe.

    oil is fine.

I original thought it had started doing it because of rust on the rockers, valve stems, or whatever as a result of the cracked head, but the head has been replaced now.

    so, I dunno.

    nope!

I didn't see the need to do that when it was only done like 1000kms ago (and leaks enough that I have to add a litre to it every month anyway )

in the old 202's i hat this problem with ticking so before i serviced it i used to run a little kero in with the oil for a 5-10 min drive till at operating tempreture then drain the oil and replace with new stuff and the tick tick had gone for good if i serviced it every 3 months..... had herd of doing this from quiet a few mechanics around my way..

it unclogs the pushrods etc as thats the main cause of lack of oil up top..

my tappets, or lifters used to tick in my vl, changed the oil, gave it a major service and run some lifter quietner stuff though it, ( add it with the oil ) and it sounds perfect. You can find the stuff at supercheap auto, and written across the front of the box it says tick tick tick rofl

Yeah lifter free works okay, usually it's a temporary fix though or if they're bad enough gone it won't help you at all.

If the lifter free doesn't work you can take them out and soak them in petrol and clean them up before putting them back in.

I used the complete, assembled head off the orange wagon.

it looked to be in better condition than my old rockers, etc.

    but perhaps I was wrong.

I plan on retorquing the head bolts sometime soon, so I may pull it all apart then.

    thanks for the link!
