    Default Oil Pressure Gauge

On starting car up cold oil pressure goes to normal high position but then as she warms up needle drops back to first white mark on gauge, not halfway as it used to,and stays there for the rest of trip, however long it might be.The oil and level of oil is ok.I think the oil relief valve in pump is ok too, otherwise symtoms would be different, wouldnt they?Any ideas would be much appreciated, thanks Martin.

could be the sensor on the side of the block not measuring the pressure properly. or Gauge is on it way out remembering it is over 20 years old check electrical plugs etc..
It is on drivers side of the block down near starter motor under plenum.
could be a blocked valve on sensor
    goodluck

does the pressure gauge respond when you rev the engine?

Ive actually just replaced my gauge with an aftermarket with PSI as the reading. Currently runs at 40psi when driving. I would look into one of those if u want a more accurate gauge, $25 i believe.

But about ur situation. My pressure goes as high as 50 psi when cold but when totally warmed up it goes to about 25 ish and down when going about 60kph. But when i accelerate its back to 40psi. I dont even know wat measurement the stock oil gauges are, all i know my stock one went to 5 or something.

Check the gauge first, and as Detox said the gauges are gettin on 20ish years now and im sure that they were never that accurate to begin with.

I had a similar problem and the sensor was dirty. I just cleaned it and worked fine.
