is it like a gas leaking hissing sound?
if so, sounds like the air lines on the back of the slide control have come adrift! have you been mucking around under the dash recently? maybe installed a head unit.
it is not gas leaking it is the compressed air that activates the various hatches to redirect the air con /heater flow to the different outlets.
slide the hot cold controller up and down reach under the dash (can't remember which side) feel the cable activating the hatch push it up and off, then undo the the screw that holds the air con cont' pull the controller forward from the top carefully. it won't come out very far you will see about 8 airlines connected/or not to the back reconnect the disconnected one/s if they all appear connected you will need to trace each one back to the other end to check those connections.
if your not sure ask someone for help, it is not to hard to work it all out but you may need to get someone who knows to help or do it for you, hope this helps.

the cable runs down to the passanger side, it under the dash on a lever.
    as said pop that off,
undo the screw(straight upwards) for the control panel and pull it outwards should be your problem on the back

just swap the air flow to the window or feet etc and you will soon figger out it wont change to one of the functions,
i did it last week when i put my dash together in my vl,
