wot the hell? the glove box? i dont think i've seen it. have to have another look. is it an extra or does every VL have one?
I thought every vl had one.
nope i just had a look and none of the 3 VL's i got has a button inside the glovebox at all
I've got a boot release switch in my VL berlina 86 model
Have you got the actuator in the boot?
Open up the boot lid and look at the lock mechanism, then see if theres a cable coming from it into a cylinder.
Is there a few plugs in the glovebox?
theres a decent size canister on the left side of the lock with i metal strip running to the lock and wires running to it so it would have to be it but they'res so swotch and by the look of it there never was on any of them, there is a whole for where a button would go i guess inside the glovebox up and under you gotta look but its on the far right hand side and upside down but nothing is there and i cant see any wiring for it
Depends how keen you are for it.
If you want it you can pick up a second hand switch from a VS or something for pretty cheap, then just chase the wires back from the part in the boot lid and maybe even re-run your own if you want.
I always had the remote boot release on my alarm remote so I never worried.

Mines black.. and I'm fairly certain it doesnt work. There's a whole cluster of wires and some sort of.. an.. adapter thingy that looks like it plugs in somewhere (but thats not why it doesnt work) I think the actual button is broke![]()
Well go and buy a new button![]()
yeh i think it depends on the model mine is an 87 belina and it has a release button but ALL of my mates who have vl's (5) have not got one and they range from SL to Executive
mines exec, has button.
how can i fix the boot release if its not working is it a hard job?????????
yeh i also need to know mine stopped working and i have no idea about electricalsOriginally Posted by vlfury

i guess you could start with the button, pull it out and tap the wires together. if you still get no action you can assume the button isnt at fault.
Then i would head to the boot, inplug the actuator (there is a join near the boot hinge from memory) and hook a test light instead. push the button and if it lights up then you know its after that point, ie in the actuator.
failing that you find out it is between the button and the boot... that sounds too hard for me!
