First of all sorry for creating another VL fuel pump thread but through the quick browsing of the other threads i couldn't really find what ive been looking for.

Just bought myself a VL about 6 weeks ago and have been hearing a rattling which sounds like its coming from the fuel tank. Got a mate to check it out since i know jack all about cars and he said its the fuel pump, but wasnt sure if it was the internal or the external. When i start the car up it makes a high pitched screeching sound which i read somewhere on the net that is an indication of fuel pump going very soon. My mate said that if it is the external pump its about $150 but if its the internal it will be much more. So is there anyway of checking myself without taking it to a mechanic. And if it is the internal how much will it be?
Any help would be great!
