    Post Internal or External fuel pump

    How do you tell which fuel pump has gone on VL?
    Car still runs fine, but i havent put my foot down in a while
    However high pitched screeching sound when i start engine and a definate rattle coming from petrol tank.

    the rattle is probably the exhaust banging on the fuel tank, stuffed rubber hangers, and even more likely if you have an after market exhaust.

    if ya external pump is buzing n sounds like its strugling...time to replace it..done it myself not long ago

    When you turn the ignition to on, you should hear the internal fuel pump start, if you have less that 1/4 tank of fuel, it will sound like its sucking in air. Not a good idea to run EFI's less than 1/4 tank of juice.

    the external pump usually makes a loud whine from new

    the in tank pump can be listened to by getting down near tank, get someone to start engine after resting it a while, dont breathe in the exhaust gas

    its said that if you often run the petrol tank very low, the internal pump can overheat as it relies on being cooled by the petrol around it
