Hi guys, i have a VL commodore, i pulled out on to road and the damn thing just stopped, we towed it home and carried out a few checks, we got a mate around who has the same vehicle, it has spark and fuel, we have swapped over AFM and CAS, injectors are pulsing, we have changed ECU checked operation of fuel pump. I am now thinking something is wrong with fuel delivery, when sparkplug is removed there is no gas at all in cylinders, just wondering has anybody had something similar happen to them.
Im pulling what little hair i have out.
Cheers Kapiti holden
my vl is weird- if it gets below a 1/4 of a tank it will just die. this is because of fuel it dies----- and if i put another 10 bucks fuel back in it wont start either, i have to put at least a good 15-20bucks worth of fuel in it to register for some reason. even though i know when it sits on a 1/4 i have a good 20 litres in the tank..................its very strange something to do with the tank but just try putting another $20 bucks fuel in and see how you go- if your real worried about the money, if it doesnt work you can always drain it afterwards![]()
Hey thanks for that info, had another look tonight, there is fuel in the rail and pressure, its like the injectors arent opening, they have power and can here them clicking when cranking with a screw driver on them and one end at my ear, but when you take #1 sparkplug out it is as dry as a bone so is the piston top that we can see at TDC, we blocked of the fuel pressure regulator and turned the ignition on and you can't here the fuel pump, but when you let go you can here it for about 5 seconds, its as if it is pumping up to pressure but not, im now thinking that one of fuel pumps might not have enough pressure, even though you can here it for about 5 seconds, does anyone know what the pressure should be when ignition is turned on and not cranking.
Thanks : fed up

Half a carton and still going!!! Now thats Economy
this may not be the problem but its worth a try check the pipeing comeing from the air flow meater make sure it is tightly on there or the two hoses comeing off the rocket cover mine sat around for 2 years cause of the hoses were cracked and were sucking in air the vl will not start with those pipes or hoses off just a littel bit basted of things i would have a good look at all wires/plugs and hoses before byeing new parts
hope this helps a littel vls are a great car but so tempremntal dont fu** with them to mutch if you dont know what you are doing trust me i lernt the hard way mine sat for two years cause of shit* hoses even the mecanic didnt see them![]()
Thanks for everything we did find what it was, after swaping fuel pumps, distributors, computers, and a huge amount of time, we saw a little wire by the battery that was off, we saw it before but thought it was an old alarm wire or someones cheap stereo install, there were quite a few wires around the battery that were dead, but a guy who was there just connected up anyway just for something to do, then we tried starting it after doing something else and she fired up. So all feel very stupid, have seen the same thing happen to ford falcon, dont know what the wire is for but it must be important.
Thanks again guys
