Hi just wondering on peoples thoughts about what engine i should put in in my vl? I was thinking about putting in a VS V6 but then i thought about a turbo. I just wanna know what engine would best suit a Vl i dont know anything about the differnt vl engines like rb30 or rb25, which is better to use? it runs on LPG too if that makes a diffrence. Regards, Ben
Rb26 brother all the way
rb30/25 straight gas turbo
rb30 tourque with the flow of the twin cam head and it will be running straight gas so it will cheap but still plenty power hiden

super charged s1 v6 or go v8
It depends on how much money you want to spend mate. I have also heard that the rb20 can be a bit sluggish so an rb25 or rb26 twin turbo would be the way to go but it doesnt just end there. If it is a stock vl you will need to upgrade the gearbox and diff. I've heard the r32 gearbox will do the job and they are supposed to be cheap but an r33 box is stronger and will be more forgiving to a flogging. Brakes would need to be upgraded too. Maybe a cheaper option would be to get an rb30 turbo engine, vl turbo gearbox and vl turbo diff and vl turbo brakes. That probably would be easier to get insurance and stuff with because you are using parts that came out with that model car and easier to sell when you get a roadworthy cos you shouldn't need an engineers certificate and you would if you went with the rb26 twin turbo as this engine didn't come out in vl's. Check your states regulations when it comes to all this and like I said mate, it all depends how many clams you want to part with.
what if i just rebuild the old rb30 and put a turbo on? would i have any probs running lpg? and i heard that u cant get a stock red bt1 is this true?
I have heard of people fitting a turbo, turbo manifold and turbo computer to a stock rb30. Apparently they go really well but i'm not sure how long for as a stock rb30 had higher compression than a turbo engine. Not sure how much the box and diff would take either. Not sure about the gas. Personally I wouldn't do it and I think if you are going to do anything like you want to do it properly because it will only cost you in the long run.
The difference between the turbo motor and the NA motor may as well be nothing. The turbo motor isn't any stronger and the NA motor is strong enough to make abusrd power without breaking anyway (250 rwkw is nothing for them). NA Gearbox's are OK for normal street amounts of power, say up to 200rwkw
One of the LS series engines would be snug as a bug in a rug in your engine bay.
