Picked up my Lukey headers this afternoon.

Fitting session tomorrow, hope like hell I dont shear any studs.

Any worth in attempting to cut and weld the muffler/resonator of the Lukey 2.5 bolt on I had on the old VZ???

Or should I just flog it off and move on???

    Wink

Hmmm, add a Lukey 2.5 exhaust for $220 to the extractors or not???

    Opinions???

Also Ive noticed after the new suspension has settled that its developed the same 1 inch os so lean to the drivers side that its had before with the orginal springs.

Any ideas on what could be causing this as its realy irking me off, car looks like a fat bloke is driving it all the time.

    Car's almost finished.

All thats left is to fix/replace the CD player, fix some small interior/electrical problems, and book it in for a service and a wheel alignment.

Fitted up the sports exhaust this afternoon, not sold on the sound yet, I'll wait until I can drive on the road before I decide if I like it.

Watch this space for the finished product.

Also finally found out that those second hand extractors I picked up from the wreckers are a brand called Advance, anybody heard of them and are they any good ie better than the Lukeys that are already fitted.

    Quick question.

looking to change wheels, sick of the VN Calais look, plus I only have 2 of them.

Mate suggested "proper commodore police rims", what are these???

    Cheer's.

They're just the 15" steel rims with the round holes in them!

    Cheers!

So police rims "chasers" are standard commodore rims, they should be easy as piss to find.

    Cheer's guys.

    Jim.
I'm pretty sure the police rims are either an inch bigger or wider than stock wheels. I forget which one. It was in another thread on here.

try to find a set with "UTE" stamped in the center, they're a thicker/high tensile metal and less likely to buckle

Got me some silver 15x7 steel rims, which are the same as police rims apprently, Cheer's to Booma11 for sourcing them.

Came with the caps and nuts, no tyres though, have some almost new suitable ones lying around though.

Came off a VU ute apparently.

Lol, I dont plan on intentionaly mounting any gutters in the VL, thats what the defender is for, ease of parking.

Just some dodgey progress photo's, and Im using the word progress fairly loosely.

Had some tyres put on the police rims I bought, put them on the car.

Couldnt be happier with the end result, looks standard while not looking compleatly boring.

been toying with the idea of replacing the nose with one of a Calais.

Idea is to find (with a lot of luck) a nose, and then weld and body fill up the eyelids and have just a smooth front end.

Probaly going to look for a front end with a burnt out moter or minor damage, (a) because I donr want to ruin a working one and (b) a non working one hopefully would be less than the prices everybody seems to want for a working one.

    Opinions???

    Another small update.

Picked up a Calais flip front, once again sourced by Booma11.

Paint is the same colour as the car but its pretty flat and tired and there are chips/scratches, I'll get it resprayed at some point.

If the motor is still okay, (was told its working) i'll probably leave it as a functioning unit instead of my previous posts plan.

Nope Im going to leave it at just the calais front, Im not trying to turn it into something it isnt.

That and I think the black pinstripe berlina lights are the best looking.

JXW, You've sold me on that bonnet strut conversion, thats going to the top of the list.

    Mini update.

Hooked up the gas stuts to the bonnet, bonnet wont scone me on the head anymore now.

Did a dry test fitting of the Clais front, motor works perfectly.

Cant for the life of me find the plug for the calais lights that 'Calais Turbo' swears ALL vl berlinas have.

Just waiting on getting the 3 panels for the lights painted up.
