Cant seem to find the Newbie's or similar thread.
Anyways, greetings I'm a local of the Adelaide Hills, SA, and I own a Gold 1988 SL.
On a sadder note I'm thinking of selling it in the next few months and I need a few opinions on what its worth as I really have no idea.
Cheers.
$1000-$1500 unless it is something special e.g. low k's, good paint and panel, special mods, etc....
Nobody wants to play with me
It's pretty basic and original.
Paint is pretty good few shopping trolley dent/scratches, has no rust.
Its done 177'xxx which I was told is about average for this model.
Velour Interior is absoluty spotless
Has factory tinted windows.
All the electrics work, eg cruise, mirrors, antenna.
New lower springs shockers and tyre's.
Anybody have a rough price range???
Cheers.
a little note mate
its actually a vl berlina with full options
and welcome to JC hope you enjoy the stay if it be somewhat short still

1987 VL SL turbo 5 speed ~STOLEN~

Okay, somebody must have changed the badges over at some point then.
judging from pic she is straight and a berlina :P
Average K's Straight Panels and bumpers all intact trims and providing the engine is good and trans i would suggest $1200 - $1700
Cheers's for the info guy's, to tell you the tuth I probably would'nt sell it if all I was going to get is around the $1500 mark, had a look on ebasy and there is VL's with more klm and less features going for more, are these just overpriced???
I could have bought a Manual SL for $400 that's not to bad at all this week but I have no where to keep it :S. Pity. But yeah you can get some really nice VLs for under 2000. Even VS's can be had for under 2000 now fairly often
the gold paint would be a metallic and most metallic VLs had paint that didnt last well, going dull and muddy
VLs are a cult car amoungst teenage boys and you may get more if you advertise it privately, dont let it get stolen on a test drive.....
the later commodores are generally not as nice, the early V6 motors shake a lot
yeah id guess 1500-2000 but if you do a couple of simple things like find cheap lowerd springs and a cheap cat back exhaust and cop rims hey who knows you may get up around 3000 i see alot of them for around that much and i just laugh to myself lol.but if yours is clean etc should be no worrys.has it got a series 2 block?alot of people would look at this also so they can convert it to turbo
Think it's a series 2 VL as it 1988 build date and it has the black plastic door handles.
Bought myself some new King lows and shockers for it a while ago just need to put them in
The exhaust already sounds quite nice, nothing like a stock VL, it is'nt the 2.5 inch that everybody seems to have but its not factory as it only has 1 tiny muffler about half way along the system.
nice mate you should get a little bit for it then
hotdog muffler?
series 2 block has a bung just behind the engine mount exhaust side above sump for oil return as well as a smaller one about 6" above it for Oil Feed and further back towards firewall for water feed
plastic door handles???
they are metal.
Nobody wants to play with me
exterior door handles are metal vb-vl and beyond, interior are plastic.
only one tiny muffler, has it got the catylatic converter still?
Nobody wants to play with me
Must be cheap aftermarket one's then because I have broken 2 of them and their plastic, same system to put the proper door handles on???
It still has the catalytic converter.
Also another question, I have a odd noise coming from one of the back wheels, when ever I accelerate or sometimes just driving along the car makes a noise similar to those clicker things people put on their pushbikes but more metallic sounding, I have pulled the wheels off and had a look but I cant find anything anybody else heard of this before???
Well I finally bought myself a newish car
Cue 2006 VZ Acclaim, Heron White, 65'000klm.
Still working out how everything works
Question, the car has an ESP switch located behind the power windows switches but infront of the centre console box, I thought ESP was only on higher spec models, does the Acclaim have ESP???.
Cheers.
acclaim is packed with safety features it is a family car.
Nobody wants to play with me
Nice man well done
Stability control can stay off :P
