Nice guide ,but..... did u have to redo ur timing afterwards??? i know i did.. casue once u take the dizzy out its fun to fire up when its back in..
My Guide For those who dont know how to replace the Crank Angle Sensor(CAS)for an RB30
Tools:
Phillips Head Screwdriver
Spanner to fit Rotor Arm Bolt
Hands X 2
Note: Disconnect Negative Battery Terminal Before your Start <--------->Thanks jatsvl
1. First Leave the Dizzy in the car. (If Not changing Bearing)
2. Unplug CAS and Earth wire. Undo 2 Screws on metal plate and remove including Rubber Seal (Pic 1)
3. Remove Leads
4.Undo 2 X Screws Holding Dizzy Cup and Remove (Note: The way the Dizzy Cup is sitting Number 1 near Power Transistor
5.Remove Screw Retaining Dizzy Rotor Arm
6.Undo 2X Screws Holding Metal Plate (Dust Shield) (Pic 2)
7.Undo Screw down Shaft where rotor arm was attached and remove Brass collar (Pic 3)
8.Carefully Remove Metal Disk making sure u Note where Top Dead Centre is by the Big Square in disk as if u flip this disk your timing is out. (Pic 4)
9.Simply Pull out Bottom Collar the disk was sitting on
10.Undo 3X Screws Holding CAS in place
11.carefully remove CAS. (Pic 5)
12.Inspect Bearing should be clean with dust seals in place (Red/Orange) in color.
If there is a Orange dust in this area replace Bearing as this dust will cause new CAS to Fail in a week or so blocking up the LED sensors.
If u look at the main shaft it has a flat side for everthing to line up when putting it back together
13.Insert New CAS
14.Screw it in place. Replace collar/ replace Metal Disk (Clean Fingerprints/Debris/Oils Etc from Disk) Make sure the TDC Mark is the same location when u took it off. see pic 4
Replace Collar and screw in place. Install Metal dust cover then rotor arm can go on and screwed in. Put Dizzy Cup back in place making sure your not 180 degrees out.
Replace Leads
don’t forget the Rubber Gasket and Metal plate to be screwed back on.
Plug in Earth and 4 Pin Plug and you’re done.
Note As you take the dizzy cup and rotor Arm off give a light sand on rotor contact and dizzy cup Contacts or replace cup/Rotor if the pins are worn and pitted.

if u r not changing the bearing, you dont take it out of the car. so the gear is not moving at all :P
If u r changing the bearing yes u need to line it up and fine tune it again with the test light
excellent guide with pics too.
it is recommended that you disconnect the negative battery terminal before starting.
Nobody wants to play with me
ok so would would be the go when someone i know removes the dissy without marking it and then winds it over after they told me they knew what theyre doing? step by step if possible
push car over till timing is on TDC both valves in cylinder 1 should be shut then
insert dissy so that the rotary arm is pointed at 1 on the dissy cap and reinstall
as you insert the dissy the rotary arm will turn around
make sure it turns and stops on number 1 or just a fraction past
start and adjust timing
another tip to avoid this prob
mark the outter shaft casing on the dissy with a texter and mark the shaft on the head it slides into
so when you refit them all you do is make them line up
also mark the location where the rotary are is pointed to the dissy body
mark the shaft of the rotary arm to the base (cas cover)
so you line them back up also
makes it alot easyer

how do u fuigure out where tdc iz? i cant find the mark on the balencer at all
is it in the pulley groove or the top edge
the timing cover has a notch on it for the indercator
the harmonicer balencer has 6 or so markings on it, top edge looking down the face of the timing cover
put the car in D (auto) or 1st (manual) and push the car backwards until the engine trys turning over, watch the marker and keep doing it till you get it to TDC if you over shoot it pull the car forwards and it will go the other way
BUT DONT DO THIS WITH THE IGNITION ON, MIGHT JUMP START

if therez 6 or so markings on the balancer which on do i stop at? wich ones tdc
To make it nice and bright put "white out" either side of the grooves not in them it willl make it easy to read.
Also you can get a compression gauge and push car over till cylinder 1 is at TDC and then slide in dizzy with rotor arm facing 1 then timing light to fine tune
