Default VL berlina cold starting issues

Hi, long time reader first time poster, i recently bought a 86 VL berlina sedan, i'm having some cold starting issues, its starts first time when warm but wont start untill about the 3rd try in the mornings, anyone know whats wrong with it? also i tryed to fix my fuel gauge (it worked for a few minutes in the morning then slowly died untill it was well below empty) using a post from the calaisturbo forum but made it worst (now it doesnt show anything).
Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks

whatever u did to make it worse you should reverse it.. if ur having firing problems could be ur crank angle sensor..

temp sensor on thermo housing could be faulty thinking the engine is warm and leaning out your fuel/air Mix
or like goon has said Crank Angle Sensor (CAS) or Air flow Meter(AFM)
Also cheak leads and plugs replace if necessary.
