My VL SS GroupA #643 Walkinshaw

I am lucky enough to own one of the rarest VL commodores made.

In 1988 HSV made a handful of Walkinshaws without the full body kit and with Calais lights and side skirts. The rear spoiler is from the HSV SV 88 of the time.

No more than 7 or 9 were made in this config at the factory, it wasn;t changed in any way by the Dealer.

Mechanically it is the same as a full kitted car. It has the GroupA brakes , suspension and the 4 bolt main 5.0 V8 with EFI and twin Throttle bodies.

I am the second owner and have known the car since the original owner purchased it new in 1988.

It is 100% original except for tyres and belts etc.

Oh wow. Hahaha, i noticed the windscreen sticker. Burwood Penfold Holden is near my work and Grandfathers place. I think they are Penfold Mazda now.

interesting about the manual mirrors though, i have never seen them in a walky?
especially if you say this is a factory job!

as far as i know there were 10 vlc walkinshaws all were dealer changed to sell them minus the bodykit. there is actually one going around with the full kit minus the front bar and with a standard bar / vlc lights instead (no bottom lip.)

has yours got the vlc interior light and the velour rooflining? if not it may have started life as an sl / exec. again strange though as all walkinshaws had the power pack meaning cruise / windows / mirrors

Walkinshaws are all SL Commodores.

They had Elec Windows fitted and central locking / cobra alarm

they had vinyl roof lining and no cruise control, nor did they have Elec mirrors.

Mine is identical in these specs to the other Walkinshaws in the HSVOC of Vic as it is reguarily parked in a group of 4 or 5.

Vicroads released the new HSV Plates today so I bought a set to match the build number

ah looks so smick dude!, will look awesome with the plates(wish they'd make hsv ones for QLD) but it does really need the walky kit, it just doesnt look right to me.

Apparently it is quite rare.

Its got to be worth a pretty packet being even more rare than the normal walky of which I was never much of a fan of the over the top body kit.
Yes I know it was developed for racing and actually did work in making the car more aerodynamic but iwas too much for my taste.
Thats why I loved these calais (as they came to be known) walkies, all the parts needed to make a tough street car.

without the full kit , it is actually a couple of hundred kilo's lighter than a fully kitted car.

I drive a 350kw LS3 HSV as my daily car, the GroupA still puts a smile on your face with the skinny tyres and approx 200kw
