My vl Project , Canary Yellow Respray, Worked 304

Hey guys and gals just like to share what im building, the car is a Vl SL . im the second owner, bought this car last august deceased estate, the first owner was a edlery man and won it as a price, when i first went to look at the car it had louvers,spotlights.mudflaps, just full orginal. interior was mickey but it had a fairly faded body, so its currently going under a lot of changes, so far its been stripped and gutted. its going to be turned into a replica BT1 but no turbo ,will be having a efi 304 ,running a high rise manifold and a holley,basic setup running a 286 cam,. turbo box and stally . so nothing to crazy

so what the time frame on this build? or you just gonna have a casual pase,

i see you have stripped it already haha besides the old paint, the car looks like its in good form

ive neva sprayed in my life i have just been reading and getting info. so for this being my first time painting so far im very happy with the results

rust wise there was a bit in the front window sil but thats really it so happy with that

Yeh that's fair enough, about a year, it will keep you occupied, that's mainly why i wanna do one, its just as much fun as building the car as driving it haha

well if that's your first time spraying, you would want to be happy with the results, from what you have done it looks clean as. very impressive

cheers mate just taking my time with the painting and not cutting corners, yer i have had 4 vl turbo's so very over them neva owned a decent 8

and every yellow vl is a turbo

just a question when you put a 304 injected motor out of a vn or later do you need a engineers certificate for vic?

no you shouldnt need one as the vl came out with a injected 5ltr. the walkinshaw

nice job man,im sprayin my ol beige girl at the miment after months of people tryin to scarr me out of doin it! what paint u using acrylic,2pac? im spraying mine in acrylic solid impulse blue with clear coat, keen to see updates of your build as it keeps me interested in mine when things get frustrating....

thanks guys. im using 2pac. yes its not first time friendly. but i started painting small things then worked up

at the moment im getting all my doors ready for primer and ive painted the inside of the boot lid

and by the end of the month i want to have the body in primer and in guide coat

Bugger! I've got a red VL 5 speed that I am going to paint the same color. I thought I had a brilliant idea painting it yellow, then I read your post. Do you have the paint code number for that Interceptor Yellow? How do you find painting 2-pack outside? Does it get much shite in the paint while it's drying? Thanks.

hey mate i can get the paint code for you

i dont paint outside i just let it dry dust free in the garage and push it outside to get the sun on it

hopfully will have more pics up soon of the body in primer

well the car is neally ready for colour. just need to sand the guide coat off and paint it
