    Default FINALLY calais...

So the time has come that i finally found a good cheap calais

Will go into details over the weekend but as if sits now, how i picked it up last night is the only pics iv got..

Its a s2 88 i think, unfortunatly just an auto 6 but its tidy as, an has leather =D

    Dark blue over silver
    240*** kms
    leather interior, immac condition
    even the aircon still works!
The bloke hit a roo a while back n never fixed the eye lid or sprayed the new bar so thats first on the list..
    rolling on 17" mags
    2.5" sports exhaust

few littles problems the eye lid as mentioned, high beam fuse melter right into the fuse box so i had to jimmy rig an eternal fuse to it n disconnet popup motor because it kept poppin the fuse and it keeps blowing the brake light fuse after awhile :S

    Faults at purchase;
    popups not working
    highbeam not working
    Cruise control not working
interior fan direction control not working
    interior lights not working
slight miss under load when cold
driver side rear powerwindow not working
    power ariel not working

    Now,
    highbeams working
Cruise works when the trans isnt having a hissy fit making it loose 3rd and skip from 2nd straight to overdrive >.<
Interior fan workins in all positions
    interior lights work
    miss fixed
    Power window fixed

but ill get a chance to sort everything out properly this weekend and give it a good clean out

Outside can use a little tlc but looks straight
Imperial blue is one of the best stock colours I rekon

This is good site to watch.I found it informative as I have been researching a lot lately on such matters such as you talk about.

Would you prefer later model? lol

the so called s2 had different interior bits like the full headrests and the n/a block had the oil and water lines in the block already as most know..

    what do you call them?

you cant really call it a 88 vl coz my 87 had all the updated bits, full head rests, buttons n seats, padded glove box, padded hi-rise lid and so on

haha i cleaned it saturday, but then took dirt that night haha

I fixed a fair few things tho... apparently the vaccum ball is missing so that explains the laggy fan control inside and cruise not working..

it was the horn blowin the brake light fuse after a few checks somehow it was conected as a dead short :S

Pretty certain afm is about to give up..

i was tuning it and it had a resistance of a big 0 ohms haha
tuned it to my special figure and now i cant stop it idling high and if i disconnect it, it has no effect

    You are correct.

There was never an official series 2. Its more a slang term or loosely used term to described the later model vl's. Many many people use it when shopping for vl items for interior parts or engines. Especially when looking for an NA engine in the interests of bolting on a turbo.....the term series 2 block/engine is said more so than a later model block/engine. I guess most people understand what is meant when series 2 is said ie later model.

As said though, there are differences in early models as opposed to later models eg interior items, engine parts ie fittings already on later model for turbo install etc.

Like i already said, there were running updates. So where do you say series 2 comes into it? Sure, people know that as the term, but its stupid really. Its just like calling an LS1 a 350

But thats exactly what happens. People start calling things by their incorrect names and it sticks.

Im not saying that its correct, but I am saying that slang terms are used ie series 2. Its always happened and will continue to happen.
