Hey all,
Well I got what I wanted to get done today, diff is out of the VL and Stripped, Diff centre is out of the housing ready to be taken to a diff place to get the spool put in……. the 25 Spline axels are out and 28 Spline axels will be replacing them, I’ll still be running the original diff gears which are 3.45.1………..
Cleaned the inside of the diff to see if there were any metal shavings and all is good……… Still got to wash the diff down so it can get painted and reassembled.
Drum Brakes………… No longer exist on my car……
Drum Brake all Gone….
Idea of the difference between the Axels

You need a new pair of work boots mate! There's shiny stuff showing...love your work and dedication. You are an inspiration. I hope the job turns out as you have hoped for. I'm sure it will. Looking at thses pics has brought back many fond memories I have of my VL turbo. It was a red 5 speed Berlina which I bought in 1988 and kept for 13 years and 31 days. I put 400K kms on it and it still was going strong when I eventually had to trade it on a VT wagon (growing family). It still had the original clutch and I had to replace very few things on it. I used to love fanging around when the bride and kids weren't on board. I used to get heaps from my mates with 2 baby seats in the back, but what the heck? I'm watching your progress with interest...
hehe thanx man....... always bring a smile to my face knowing that what iv done and what im doing to my car inspire's other car fan's......... its the best feeling.
Hows it goin, just read through your whole thread start to finish and damn what a fantastic read. I envy your motivation and a very nice project should be killer when finished mate all the best.

G-day all,
I managed to get a little bit done to the VL to day b4 it started to rain.......... So after the 1st attempt of going to put the diff in and failing (instead dropping it on my hand and putting me in hospital) my 2nd attempt was more successful, I got the Diff painted and while that was dryin i fitted my new cooler piping. She's coming together nicely now, only a few little things left. I also brought some little things which are a boost controller and a electronic turbo timer.
