    Default AJ's vl Project

2 years and 4 months ago, i bought a limited edition vl commodore for $800, i saved $50 a fortnight to buy it,

lol, good times, anyways, it needed a radiator windscreen steering wheel and front tires + Rego,

being poor and stupid this took some time for me to get, and in no time the head had corroded, this meant i had to get the boys at headtourque to have a look at it, they qouted me something like $800 or more to repair the head i gave them, so i grabbed a quokka, and bought a better one for $100, then got headtourque to repair that, then it only cost me $400, i saved like hell for the radiator and dad (after losing a bet) bought me the windscreen, i started fixing things up and buying useless stuff for it, and it was going well, i had just put new shoes and pads on the brakes painted em red and cleaned my rims, i parked the car back in its spot, and all of a sudden, this neon green liqued fell outta it,

    the water pump seal!

so then i got new hoses new gaskets new pump new thermostat housings, new thermostat, new bolts to hold it all on, my third set of coolant (starts to get expensive)

and that was that sorted, then somehow, it ran funny, hesitated and backfire out of the intake, didn't like to idle, only likes revving, my timing was out by a tooth, but that only fixed the half of it,

meanwhile i changed the oil and filter plus got new sparkplugs,

and a host of cosmetic interior changes, and engine bay mods,

    along with a new bonnet

so far i have an idea it's just the airflow meter, i have gone through like 5 or more second hand ones and never had the cash to get a brand new one, at the moment the car is in perth, waiting for me to go pick it up at christmas on my holidays and tow it back to wiluna where i am living atm to finish it off and register it at the workshop i am working at

well i hopes ya likes it

So i got a new master cylinder, another second hand airflow meter (found it, might work, why not try it eh?), also ordered some extractors for it which is nice, hopefully i cal fix the brake issue, and possibly drive it up to wiluna on a permit sometime next year and then spend my time finishing it off for registration, i have another NA engine and gearbox, going to be kitted up to suit an RB25 head and an SC14 blower, trying for a na compression low boost setup, just for something different

Do you mean the scoop? it's actually been put on, i'm gonna cut a hole in the bonnet, it's possible a top mount intercooler may end up beneath it, i think it matches the letterbox grille

installed a new second hand brake booster, the brakes still arent good, someone said i need to bench bleed it, i tried to figure out how, but couldn't so a brake place will be the next stop with that, put on another air flow meter that i found, it improved idle a but, and today i ran through the tests to tune the AAC and IAC valves along with the ECU, some more promising results but the day ended with a 23 fault code meaning that the throttle position sensor is now bung or not set right, i will check this tomorrow arvo probably, luckilly i didn't through out that spare intake manifold with all those pieces on it, HEY JEN!!?? lol cause now i have a spare tps in the storeroom,

i also bought new indicators never seen em on a vl before, so glad to have them installed one and broke part of the front apron, so a bigger 10mm socket and some glue should fix all that when i do the drivers side,

    will keep ya's posted
