Much chopping needed to fit over intercooler?

Not sure acutally. Most bars ive seen need little to no trimming..

Calais front/Rear bars are the same as every other standard VL kit.. Skirts are different though.

By standard do you mean the SL version (equivilent of the executive of the vl's)?. Good thing that all the bars are the same! should be dime a dozen at wreckers. Want it painted in asteroid silver but am going to look for some different brighter shades of silver (prolly look shithouse but wanna see pics).

Asteroid Silver is pretty bright... And yes Exec/Berlina/Calais All the same... Maybe Calais has a extra lip. But i doubt it.

    Hey man,

    Just read through your thread.

Nice ride you have there. Some few good pointers there from luke641.

Only thing I will say atm, is that I hope you have plenty of money for a twin cam conversion. Yeah I wouldn't mind doing it myself, however the single cam rb30 has been proven time and time again. There is one on youtube that has made over 1,000HP. You should watch the clip. Its an awesome car.

As I said I wouldn't mind doing a twin cam conversion as they look phat!! Or even maybe just consider dropping an rb25det in, instead of doing a combo. Would be cheaper and you could spend the money on upgrading the motor, instead of spending your money on just building a motor.

I'm thinking of just dropping an RB26DETT in there as I like the looks of twin snails sitting there . Was going to go and build a rb26/30 with twin turbo, however funds are tight. So if I win the lotto..well maybe I might just build an insane motor for a street/show car for the vl.

Hey guys! Sorry no reply for a while, completely lost this thread amongst other crap.

Cheers for all the info guys, been keeping an on your my ride section nackers. The beast is coming along well!

Have done an embaressingly little amount on the vl lately! Purchased heaps of goodies for it but no time to install. Mainly lil stupid bits like aerial, front bar, interior bits etc. Polished the rocker cover and then got sidetracked by buying another VL.

Need some advice!! On the current VL (this thread), the interior is pretty ordinary and pretty much poverty pack with no aircon or power windows etc. I have just purchased another VL with a completely immaculate interior that basically looks brand new! It also comes with power windows, aircon and a hybrid but stock interior. The exterior of the "new" vl is straight as with pretty worn paintwork, high kilometers, damaged nose cone and front bumper. On first thoughts, i just want to to a complete interior swap from the "new" VL to the VL Turbo!

BUT, the "new" VL is a VL 200 series and i feel guilty chopping up the shmick interior of a car i probably wont come across again. Should i restore the exterior of the 200 series or pimp out the turbo with the 200 series interior??

Hey guys its been a while since an update. Have gone against what most people have suggested and against my first thoughts. I am going to swap the interior and all optional extra crap from the vl 200 to the turbo and then sell off the 200 series for parts.

Would have been better if i had more time to put into the 200 as far as restoration but time and money are an issue so every good part is going into the turbo.

Anyone chasing vl parts in Brissy let me know as i have a lot for sale! Also if anyones keen to lend a hand in doing a complete interior would be appreciated. Can do it all myself but am pretty sceptical on the wiring aspects.

Will keep all updated and post some pics over the next few days!

Take the bumpers off it and get them sprayed Asteroid silver. And swap the lights over.

Hey mate, cheers heaps for the offer. Already stripped one interior and onto the next. Extra set of hands is always helpful!
Also, what colour sunvisor are you chasing?

Should have some pics in a couple of days with the calais/200 interior in the turbo. This rain has been a major pain lately! Got heaps of goodies sitting around waiting to be installed too!

IMO dont tint the tailights... it is illegal and if you get rear ended your more then likely wont get insurance. Instead you should get vl berlina or calais tailights. But definatly paint the garnish black mate

Definately no tinting the tail lights.. I'm going to paint the rear garnish and put the tail lights from the 200 series onto the turbo. I think they are calais on the 200 series but not too sure! They do look brand new though.

At the moment i'm chasing new carpet. Installing the aircon and swapping interior and other bits so i got stuff spread out everywhere! This rain isn't helping either!

Try ebay for the carpet, sometimes one will pop up. I dont think id have the patience to do a full interior, all that effing around with heater controls and dash. Ive stripped a few interiors but bugger putting it all back together LOL
