    gdaii mate i just bougth a vl berlina original 304 i just joined up to this forum thing not sure on how it works lol umm was just wondering do u thing an injected 253 with oversized cam cop chip and 5 speed manual or an injected 304 auto would go harder cheers daniel

    i would go,dark window tint,calais rear lights,maybe some new wheels?

    dark tint for sure mate! Thatll be one of the first things i do. Not a fan of the rear tail lights either!

    rims im not too fussed on at the moment, maybe when the tires are shagged i'll get some new flash ones.

    I do like the shape but not too sure what kit to go with. One thats on now looks pretty shithouse and is missing the rear bumper part.

    Anyone got kit suggestions? thinking of going with calais

    ya should try the calais lights cover, get a rear bumper and see if you can fit some small lights in the front bumper. just a suggestion, i think it might look alright.....

    looks clean btw.

    not a bad idea at all, picking up a spare vl calais hopefully next weekend so should have all the parts i need for the lights conversion. Might try and get someone to photoshop it up for me

    Nice VL to start with..

    IF it was mine, mods ild do are:
    - Stock VL Front/Rear bumper and side garnish, Painted in Astroid Silver.
    - Black center garnish out of a VK.
    - Blacked out (tinted) tail lights (to go with the black garnish)
    - Paint the strip around the lights black, (currently white by the looks of it)
    - Fix up the 'Turbo' Badge location (Needs to be lower, about 1-1.5cm off the strip around lights, and the 'o' in turbo needs to be about 3-4cm from the edge of boot)
    - Black window surrounds,
    - White Venetians
    - SL in the front, SSL in rear
    - Rb25 head and turbo etc..

    BUT that list if it was me, going off my taste etc.. Yours might be different, and if so thats cool as at the end of the day, if you like it, thats the main thing.. But doesnt hurt to give the ideas a think about..

    some great advice mate! Was certainly considering a fair few of those.

    More i hear about it the rb25 head gives it a lot better power! Definately one of the first few things to happen.

    Going to rip off the turbo badge, is it glued or pinned in?

    I can kinda see what u mean about the window surrounds, do you mean like the top part of the door or the rear quaterglass type thing?

    Youve ruined the back end for me, i wanna go paint it black now! lol would look much better,

    This is what i mean by the window surrounds, and the black strip around the lights...



    Turbo Badge is just the gluey stuff.. But relocate it if you can, as it will look good in the right spot..

    As for the 25 head.. IMO ild do the other 'cosmetic' stuff before the doing that.. Just as the RB30 still goes good as is... AND not every one sees the bay, be everyone sees the exterior..

    Sweet, the badge is off tomorrow, hopefully the bloke who put it on last time didnt loctite it. If cant get it to look right i'll leave off. Like the idea of it not stating turbo.

    Definately looks lot different with the window surround, cheers for the pic. Would definately suit black as tint!

    Is the VK calais rear boot garnish a straight fit to the vl or do ya reckon id b best off painting the existing white part and replacing lights?

    Do the standard vl's have small sideskirts or would it be the same if i just removed whatever skirts are on it now? Hopefully paint underneath it is schmick.

    Yea if you paint the current garnish a gloss black it will be the same as the VK, but yes VK/VL Garnish and lights are interchangeable off memory..

    And IMO.. Only go light tint, as i reckon with light tint and venetians it would looks smick, once the stock bumpers are on and painted Asteroid silver.(That image isnt asteroid silver bumpers, its MX Grey (i think thats the name))

    Door surrounds are a must imo. Looks alot better and will brake the white up.. Make sure your do the Side mirrors black to.

    As for under the current skirts, under them should be the stock one, but if not might need to get them as well... Take them off and hope for the best i guess...

    And instend of getting new lights now, Go to Autobahn, Repco etc and Get VHT Nightshade and tint your current tail lights, will be a cheap option insted of getting new lights.. Therefore allowing a few hundred to be spent else where.. EG Paint. etc..

    Also, if you wana save some $$ for the mean time on rims, Paint them black then get them White Walled.. As once its lowered will look phat.

    And happy to help dude.

    Wicked idea with the black rims! U done up a few vl's by the sound of it? Any pics i can work off?

    Will rip skirts off tomorrow and see what surprises are in store!

    Silver skirts on the above car look similar to a vn colour for some reason. Asteroid silver much smoother!

    Might grab a cheap rear garnish and have a play with the paint, should look schmick. Gotta hunt down a compressor and guns first. Just moved here from WA so got jack equiptment at moment, is painfull!

    Funnily enough, never owned a VL, well that was road worth.., but after 2 years of being very active on Calais Turbo.com and having numerous mates with VL's has taught me the in's and out's....

    But i have about 500 pics of VL on my other laptop.. Will find a few nice ones and post them up later today

    It might be time to take the plunge! VL's are dam cheap at moment with parts everywhere!

    Pics would be handy thanks mate. Am about to degrease the hell out of the bay and look at stripping kit and rear garnish. AND badge!

    Sounds good man, getting my old toy sent over in 2 to 3 weeks so i'll have to juggle a few projects. Was so close to finishing the VR SS and the bugger of a thing got flogged and thrashed so mechanically back to square 1! Fun times ahead!

    Also lookin for a cheap run around car if anyone knows of anything. Wanna put VL off road so i can start some quality work on it!

    Swifts, Barinas, Corollas.. Any of them are sweet.. As a DD.. Even Excels....

    KE70 Corolla would be hectic as a DD.. RWD and uses about 2ml of fuel every 100km..

    Definately chasing something along those lines. Am tall bugger so can't fit in the smaller buzz boxes!

    Whats the go with driving without a front bumper on. Is it legal if you still have licence plates visible on the reo bar? Front intercooler is visible tho if that makes any difference...

    Just short term while i either repair or replace bumper. Id say its illegal because if u hit a pedestrian they would get badly munted

    Gona get badly munted either way, with out the bumper they will just get munted and greasy... haha..

    Replace it with a stock bumper. $70 from the wrecker or less on ebay
