It was not cheap thats for sure, I bought the car in 2004 ($5000) and then went to HDT in Revesby NSW to buy the genuine kit. The total kit price was $3995 plus $990 for fitting, the car was there for monthswhen they realised the bonnet needed cutting they said it would cost another $250 so im guessing they had never done one before, so the total cost was $5250. When i got the car home i realised not only how badly finished the kit was but also how badly it had been fitted, luckily i can weld and fiberglass. The back passengers door had 6 holes drilled in the wrong position that i had to weld up and the whole job of refitting went exactly the same way, anyone that knows how badly fitting the rear 1/4 window moulds line up with the gutters would understand when i say i spent 2 weeks alone lowering and widening the roof gutters and then re-shaping and fibreglassing the 1/4 window moulds to match up, the whole job took me 6 weeks Mon-Fri whilst on holidays to get right, so anyone who thinks they can just buy a kit and quickly slap it on better do their homework first. The car went in for paint as soon as i had fixed the kit and even though i had the total amount up front ($8000) it still took 2 years before i got it back, In that time i kind of lost interest and its been sitting in the shed ever since, so now im going to get stuck back into it and see how much i can get done before i go back to work

shit that would piss you off.
i couldnt evan tell it was orange i thought it was red to
looks killer. I want the same kit on my wags but with the lower lip kit aswell
Wrecking VL factory V8 only a few bits left still have full dash/crash pad
and have a vk 202 motor and 5 speed Make an offer want it gone
I do have the lower lip for the front bumper but i dont want to fit it until i have finished the car, It is very low and would be very easily damaged whilst working in the engine bay etc so ill just fit it later.
The car has sat in the shed covered in dust for a few years now but today i had a burst of energy and rolled it out and fitted the rear 1/4 windows into the back doors and all 4 of the door rubbers so next ill be fitting the bailey channels, door locks and door glass

I have no idea of how to install these bailey channel rubbers, Its been like 6 years since i stripped the car out for paint and i cant remember how they were cut etc before i took them out??. Does anyone here know if i have to cut the corners??, or just try to bend around the corners in one piece??? If i have to cut do i cut at angles (like 45 deg or so???) and do i then glue together?? or do i just do straight cuts and butt them against each other in the door frame??? or do i cut a "v" shape out of the side walls of the bailey channel so i can bend them around the corners??? I just want to make sure i get it right the first time and before i start cutting just in case i stuff it up and have to buy some more...

Sweet Ride Bro , The Blood Orange sets it of to a tee , Looks Hot..............
bro sexy vl bro in love
wow that looks awesome. How long has the build taken you so far?
mate congrats on the awesome work so far, love the colour the kit and the fact you've done it to a factory 8 and not just found a dodgey walky kit on ebay and fitted it to one of those disgraceful turbo 6's
as for the baily chanels, no you don't cut them for the corners, they should just fold in nicely, although in saying that sometimes that doesn't always work :P, but you'll figure it out
James
The actual build time has probably been about 2 1/2 years so far, although it had spent 2 of those years in the panel shop waiting to be paintedwhen i finally got the shell back from being painted i had kind of lost interest in it as it had been gone for such a long time, and after all that time waiting my motorvation had disappeared so i just decided to leave it sitting in the shed for a while, Its just been sitting in there for about 4 years now so i guess its about time i get stuck back into it.

There was no way that they would just fold around for the top corners, I had to end up cutting a small "v" section out of the side walls of the channel so they could bend around to the right angle. By doing it this way the channel wont be able to slide back down from the corners over time like they would have been able to if i just ended up cutting them all the way through.
