hey this is my vl,sorry photos are from my phone, mods include series 2 rb30 from skyline,roller rockers, extractors, 2 and 1/2 in exhaust w/cannon, dropped on its guts due to a mix with springs and angle grinder, k&n pod, peformance plugs and leads, advanced timing belt, minispooled, 4" tacho, bonnet scoop with home made holden emblem i think thats it... i need some mags, i was thinking vz calis rims they look sick, needs new paint job but going with a 2 tone phantom purple and silver bottom... waddya think for a first car? ive had it 2 years but only just started adding things

No offence, Not having a go at you or nothing. ditch the bonnet scoop, Plates on the driver side for... Looking like you have an intercooler hiding there? also leaning to the back right? cut your springs wrong? and the cannon exhaust, was it really necasary. :P

Looks nice man, just i wouldnt of gone crazy low. Bet it goes though. Yeh the vz calais rims look nice but i bet they would be a lil pricey.

scoop is personal preference, not everyone is gunna like it but i do, car is on uneven ground and i was prob leaning when i took the photo, plate is off to side because in 6 months there will be an intercooler there and for 4 vz calis rims + tyres is $1599... i done my homework on that one

oh yeh cannon wasnt nesicary but i got it for nothing so... beats 6cyl up to vs and i beat an au ute and i ran my mates vt calis genIII just for laughs, i smashed him off the start but after bout 45-50 metres i was staring at his taillights...lol

Don't get rims, get yourself some springs and shocks. Fix the trim on your front bumper..
Tint your taillights and do your center garnish gloss black.

Blacken up your wiper arms.

I'd do alot more to looks.. But I'm not sure how your budget is for things like painting your mirrors, and your window surrounds black.

i agree with bextor84 though
you're better off trying to smarten her up a little before you go the rims cos she looks a bit worn. just buy some chasers for a couple hundred bucks and spend the rest on getting her to look new again

it's got chasers on it underneath the hubcaps but when the hubcaps come off the cops seem to follow me all the time

i have to agree with bex too. tidy her up a little first then fork out for the mags. i don't mind the scoop either. it's different but not overboard. not bad. if you want a rough idea of how the two tone looks check out my pics.

thats why i dont want to smarten it up coz i only use it as a daily driver and burnouts, it has too many body problems to fix it up i want to find a wagon in good nic and doo that up instead

alrighty then i have had a good think about what i want to do with my car, it will be comming off the road in a few weeks and the 6 months rego will be cashed in for a major overhaul... im moving back to nowra and have been offered my old job back with my own car with the job to run about in so i made up a small list of im provements of things that HAVE to be done and things i WANT to do, so here goes

HAVE TO DO:
*rust cut out from under windscreen and spare tyre well.
*replace windscreen because of huge ass crack in it from headbutting mate.
*fix hand brake, the cable is ok but somthings broken there.
*fix headlights, no high beam atm.
*new drivers side front blinker, its still in one piece but shattered.
*seal boot, ends up with puddles when it rains.
*new front rio bar, bent from wombat.

WANT TO DO:
*de-badge.
*new front and rear bumbers + side skirts, group A.
*calais nosecone.
*calais taillights.
*calais dash cluster.
*new rubber kit all round.
*new bonnet, currant one has hole for scoop.
*new boot, currant one has dent from some asshole when i was at shops.
*window tint.
*new shocks, springs, bushes.
*new wheel bearings.
*take out engine for rebuild and hopefully turbo.
*respray phantom purple over silver 2 tone.
*tidy up electrical wiring.
*new radiator.
*stage 2 shift kit.
*new carpet.
*smoothed dash and center console and sprayed phantom purple.
*re-trim seats and door trims (purple leather).
*new parcel shelf.

well thats it so far i have no intentions for a stereo system yet i dont use them anyway, this will take me at least 2 years to complete (im not made of money) but will be well worth it in the end, untill then its back to a thrashed 89 hilux as a daily driver... waddya think guys? any other opinions or ideas would be appreciated.

That could be done for about 4-5k - Minus the cost for the purple leather interior and the exterior paint.

yeh i like purple i just made a thread with the last post in it coz this one was getting ignored i havnt decided on rims yet... 4-5k is ok but you have to know the right peopl for that... i know some auto elects so i might get mates rates there but the rest is for my haggleing skills

IM REALLY SORRY FOR THE THREAD DIG BUT.... i cant believe i used to own this POS and think it was cool hahaha, i mean it was my first car and all but wow what a rough peice of crap, i ended up selling it for parts :P

then i bought 6 other VL's after this in cluding the calais turbo i own now and the caprice... guess it helps earning an extra 60grand a year more than what i was earning in 2005 :P

It would restrict all about 0.000001% of airflow to the cooler... U would not notice any different..
