    Default The Journey Begins

Hi all this is a few pics (sorry about the quality, bit dark in the shed) of the Vl I picked up the other day and have put strait into the shed awaiting the full strip down.

Yes there is plenty of work to be done and its in pretty bad shape at the moment, but who am I to put the hammer down and send her packing to the junk yard, everyone deserves a second go. The way I see it she will now (after LOTS OF TLC) have a new lease on life.

Have been talking about a v8 conversion but after a few comments from friends and people on here, I may just turbo the current Rb30, still deciding that one.

Other mods I have planned are calais front flip up lights, HDT or Walky front bar with the letter box grill, and a manual conversion, whilst the interior is still undecided, but will come to me as the buils progresses.

The only down fall is due to being a father of two girls with a third on the way, it will be a slow build ( sorry guys, just the way it has to be).

Nice starting point man. She needs a bit of TLC for sure. How many Kms on her?

ill keep an eye on this one either way u decide to go. Do a highcomp setup on current engine or buy another donk and build one ready to drop in. Nothing beats a Beautiful note of an 8 but a slammin' 6 is impressive as well. Do it once do it right. Goodluck man

More like, best bang for buck.
Its really easy to find information on anything RB30 related.
You must welcome R31 Skyline Club Wikipedia section as your new best friend when after information. So much helpful information there.
But yes, turbo Rb30 is probably the best option if looking for cheap upgrades.
Turbo on standard motor with correct tune can pull over 200rwkw.

Cheers guys, like I said I think she has had some abuse in the past as theres over 300ks on the clock.

Would love a v8 but think that this time round it looks like the turbo will get the early nod.

Maby once I join the mines down the track I may end up going the coveted ls1 conversion. LOL

Now..............of to the shed to get it all going.

Stripped the interiour this arvo except for the dash, carpet and roof linning. Might go and get a couple of pics later tonight. Also stripped off all the crome linning and door trims.

Can anyone please tell me how to get into the boot as the boot release button is not working and the key also wont work, obviously need a new locks, wella couple anyway as there is no lock at all in the drivers side door.

Haha..............like I said LOOOOOOOOOOONG way to go lol

Yea the interior is like a war zone lol, a little bit stuck with trying to get the rest of the dash out, so having a break from it before I BREAK it lol.

As yet no rust, have a donot vl to swap the doors with as there in better nick than mine ( windows and locks etc) only $200 for the donor and I think it has a manual gearbox which im looking for.

As far as colour there are a couple of ideas, one is a fire orange colour, or a deep dark blue, or old faithful Black. Will have to see what happens as the build continues.

Removing the top part of the dash and the side vents near the windows. Do I have to take out the front window to do this or not? I'm actually thinking of not taking the rest out, but will need to retrim the front pillars and it looke like the dash needs to be out!!!

Finally managed to unlock the boot this afternoon........yay....so now all the lights and back bumper are off, and I'm back into the paint stripping.
