well the manifold is back on now, cant do much till it drys so left the pipes till tommorow morning

well that dude replied to my post on CT
that pipe and also the pipe underneath the coolant pipe in the first pic was the cause for his probs
so fingers crossed once again lol

the manifold was panblasted at my old mans work, did outside and inside.
then gave it a light dust coat of VHT flame proof paint in aluminum colour
little cleaner then normal

ha bumpers....... ive been kinda focused on the engine right now
i want it running so i can get the exhaust done on it asap
as i keep eating into my exhaust money on random little things
once it runs ill look at sanding everything then priming it all


turns out im not the only one too, been told by Daron that he has to be here when it starts

no luck with leak and injectors but closer more closer

had it running ruff as guts for 15-20 seconds
had a mecahinc from auto prob pop in after work for me and checked a few things

timming is def set on the mark but appears my batterys are too dead too get it too run
when its cranking over its not enough too also run the comp for injector pulse

so ive got a battery on charge tonight and they have a jumper pack on charge for me too that ill be picking up in the morning


on a side note i scored a brand new coil pack from u pull it score

the interior came up good mate
im just going to keep mine clean and blue till i can afford my other ideas






well no luck this morning

changed plugs too stock ones as the NGK performance ones were supected soak which they were
played with timming and 110% im on the mark

still the running for a few seconds crap


so i decided too bite the bullet

going in to the boys down at Auto pro just to check everything over and see if they can get it running
Tom the owner said if he cant get it running in the 2 hours i dont have too pay for the labour
i said 2hrs max as its cutting into my exhaust funds

top blokes down there, cant reckomend them enough.
helped me with all my parts needed and let me borrow few tools too help elimnate problems


so tommorow morning ill orgernise one of the towies at work to pick it up tommorow night and drop it off


gave the car a wash today also as i was bored and pissed off with it not running
plus need too make sure its clean when its heading out places

well the cam timing is of one tooth which i will need to fix soon when i get the time too
shouldnt effect the car from not running, just will a little ruff

but the problem is still there
its a electrical problem with the starter system going by various electrician's opinions
either it being supply to it or returning the power to the battery

so will have to do some playing around and run a earth cable for the starter straight to the battery

the list cant be much more longer ha
but im finding out more things with the wiring on the vl as we work things through

there is a blue and white cable which runs from the starter motor into the engine loom
with this new starter it wasnt in the plug so we just left it disconnected

so i looked it up in my book and was looking at the wiring maps and it appears too run to the computer
someone on CT reckons its is used too tell the comp to alter fuel and timing a bit to easy starting when cranking over

but he isnt positive about it

the 304i was dropped as it was a too much effort for no gain
rb30 is much more nicer in my books

ha progress, shit all really
been busy and flat out with no time but ive just rolled it into the car port then

going to take the harmonic balencer, all the belts off and the timing cover off so its ready for tommorow to fix the timing belt issue

took my rear bar plus a few moulds in to work yesterday and today and got half the bar sanded and 4 moulds done durring lunch time

will try the blue white cable tommorow and few other stuff


my mate who is painting it is getting too unrealiable and he has burnt too many bridges with me now
so ive spoke with the head painter at work, gave a run down on everything too do and said give me a price
so he will work something out over the weekend

then we should make some progress

yer, its not just over one thing also...its many things
still owes me $200 from about 8 months ago and everytime he complains he has no money
yet he can go out and spend $400 on his ute and get his car window tinted
any who




someone local is selling a pair of kenwood 4" splits with tweaters and the crossover
brand new in box, half thinking about it as im having probs finding a big range of 4" splits


clutch fan off
fan shroud off
belts off
top timing cover off

couldnt get the balencer off as i forgot to bring home my bigger sized sockets
need 27mm so ill have to buy one tommorow, might head too supercheap for it and see if my fire extiguisers are in yet too

the timing belt is only about 20,000km old but i might replace it still while its off also depending if anyone has one in stock

Did the drivers inner guard have that big 'ding' in it, like the VH/VK's? if so what did you do with it? hammer it out? or cut and weld? Iwant to do it on the VH - one day...

yer that that dent was in the skirt
i simply cut lines and little wedges out till i could fold it down and weld it
that was the goal, clean simple and not cluttered motor and the basics






well grabbed two things after gardening this morning

new timing belt
and a narva 15 holder fuse rail with cables already, couldnt resist for $25


after a bit of brain fluffing and confussing myself the timming belt is all done now and back together
was struggling too work out why the cam was not vertical and if i made it vertical it would be 54 grooves on the belt not the 53 like needed

turns out the motor is on a slight lean, so all the time it was vertical to the engine/head but not the rocker cover/ground
hehe never relised it was on a slight lean, mybad

never got to try powering that cable or cranking the motor over as i ran out of time



also i will be picking up those kenwood 4" splits on monday or tuesday night
could only find MTX 4" splits at one shop

i had kenwood splits in the calais and blew one of them easily. i dont like the stereo up too loud either, and then i bought mtx's and they have been fine ever since. had to file a bit from under the speaker cover and remove the plastic boot to get them to fit though.

also i usually leave the alt drive belt on and make sure it's tight when i crack off the main bolt for the crank and grab the belt to help stop the crank turning.

you should advance the cam one tooth when you replace the timing belt but then retard the dizzy all the way and it should be still 1degree advanced ign timing. thats how mine was anyway

you have picked a really nice colour for it mate. looks tops with its nice smoothe bay. put up some more pics if you get a chance..

more then likly repaint as ive got no real other options
