Just got this beast on the road today - brother picked it up for $100 and I have spent bout $250 in parts, several weeks labour fixing it all up plus tyres for rego. Now unfortunatley have to hand it over to my daughter....
hehe - tis amazing how a car can come up with a bit of polish in a pictureWhat you cant see though is the hail dents - not too many, but very noticeable in real life.
Have also over the last 2 weeks for rego replaced rear swing arms, rear engine mounts, 7 x snapped exhaust manifold studs, bypassed low and high beam original fuses with new external ones, rebuilt odometer, rebuilt just about all the fixing points for the plastics on the dash (all broken and previous owner siliconed it all together), repaired broken vacuum hoses to vent controls, repaired fan fuse holder, removed and rebuilt fan motor, repaired broken low fan speed resistor, dyed a faded tail light lens, repaired tail light wiring, replaced exhaust rubber mounts, replaced wiper heads, dismantled and rebuilt electrical part of ignition switch, repaired dodgey wiring in steering column courtesy of previous owner trying to hook up spot lights (several wires cut and twisted back together..), repaired boot release (as only have 'service' key...), replaced most of the lamps in dash and centre console, new tyres, cut out and repaired rust in boot floor and around windscreen, and my brother resprayed the back end and nose (not quite the same colour as u can see in the pics) with some paint he had lying around from a previous job...
Whew... think thats about it - was a busy little boy
Took some more pics mainly for my daughter if anyone is interested, click here to see them

jeez snake that 2 tone interior looks tops... are you going to leave the other half the stock colour or change it to another colour?
thanks mate, leaving it as is just saving for some newer seats and they will be trimmed blue and white to match. right now they are the stock blue ones but faded and worn badly
ohh yeah that interior is fair wicked, i like it, but doesnt the white get dirty

thanks, nah the white is surprisingly easy to keep clean but i'm pretty careful with it and don't use it every day. doing the boot to match soon, at the moment its just sprayed black in there with some black carpet. it'll have false walls trimmed in vinyl and some other surprises
ohh sounds wicked will look forward to pics![]()

nice cars guys
no the door trims are retrimmed not painted. i used to have them just white vinyl but got the confidence to try and sew some blue inserts into it. so i had a go and this is how it turned out. pretty happy with it.
i just used the old girls sewing machine and some blue vinyl that matches the old stuff (took ages to find it the right colour) and the white vinyl i already had on the trims. theres a 3mm layer of foam behind the vinyl as well.
i don't know why people say you cant sew vinyl with a standard sewing machine. it did it no problems never broke a needle, just as long as the stitch isn't too short or it will 'saw' the vinyl from the needle holes being too close together.
how did u attach it was it all just strapped over the original door trim ?

the door trim is the original wooden one but the old vinyl and foam was removed. the trims are both contact glued and tacked in with 3mm upholstery tacks on the back. time consuming but i find the contact glue isn't reliable enough on its own and the vinyl peels off after a while. usually because of heat
also an update on the car, i have purchased blue berlina front and rear seats and high rise arm rests and sunglass holder. i'll get some new pics up once its all fitted (tomorrow hopefully)
