gday guys, just thought id lable the things ive fixed or that need fixing after ive had my car for around a month
leaking seals
door lock broken... so anoying

so need to fix the seals on the back rear light (thinking about drilling a small hole unter the light to drain the water)
rear left speaker has stoped working
horn is on the blink
oil leak from the steering somwhere (got a new steering rack and pinion and bushes for roady)
haha guess you cant expect anything else for uner 3 grand,
once its all done sould be sweet
these all sound common?
Ooooh yeah. Common alright. I've fixed every one of those things at least once myself
My statesman had a broken door lock, leaking seals, broken window, oil leak from steering, oil leak from transmission, two broken speakers, broken head unit, etc etc.
Believe me, that's a short list for you![]()

dam, hope mine holds up, i dnt have the money to be fixin her haha
nah, you'll be fineOnce you've got it roadworthy, you can pretty much ignore most of the problems the old girls give you. Just service them regularly, drive them easy, and they'll last you a long time
... unless of course you're a picky bastard like me, in which case you'll be pulling the whole thing apart every other week to fix things like blocked heater cores.

god dam! thats so much work haha,
i wouldnt have the guts to pull it apart and trust myself to put it back right haha
hell my first had a few things wrong with it.
It was taken for a quote for roadworthy and was written of on that quote, $3500.
windscreen
tyres
ball joint boots
1 tierod end
sump gasket leak
trans rear seal
bearing plates
bent bonnet hinge bracket
sagging roof
front brake pads
some rear end rubbers
sway bar links
shagged steering wheel.
done all the work my self and done extra and the parts cost the same as quoted withh extra done.
wow, thats a huge quote good work doing it all yourself. i guess i got of lucky,
hopefully i have fixed the water leak in the boot, the newer lights bolts werent tightened so i did that and am goin to run a bead of silicone around the top, see how it goes
have fixed the rear speaker, the leak from the engine remains a mystery as it has not been dropping anything since.... who knows haha!
and the horn is working slightly better, no idea why....
or u could buy a nice whole car for less than 300 and raid it
3 grand i bought my current vp for 750 and replaced the water pump and 4 new tyers for roadworthy and it came with full tinted windows and mags no rust or anything 2 weeks later i got a vn s1 for around 100 bucks in the same order either way good luck treat it right and it will treat you right![]()

lol Morton, after reading ur list of problems then looking at ur plates all i read was AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
hahah, my bros VN has probs too:
Rear door seals fell out,
scrubs tires like a mofo
needs new rotors, pads were just done
power steering leaks like a tap on its way to bunnings
at the moment the steering is farked, its allover the place and UN-DRIVEABLE (fixing soon)
tailshaft is on its way out
trans slips and isnt responsive
welshplug went, but he never uses rad fluid so its clogged up (FIXED)
all the gauges stick, revs, speedo, fuel, temp... all of em.
the torque converter (i swear) really starts makin noise up a certain hill
air con broken
fans dont work until the 3rd notch (nothing, nothing, eyebrows are gone)
blows smoke now and then
motor uses oil
its got a toyota badge, HUGE problem
exhaust actually fell out at the cat converter, sounded like a tank. Fixed it and held it there with speaker wire (still holding!)
only one low beam light works
has a second toyota badge
Runs like pig shit, steering is floaty when it works, brakes suck and the interior is ruined.
Mind you,
Its still using oil a year old (looks like tarmac), spark plugs are just as old, air filter is over 2-3 years old, never had rad fluid, trans hasnt been serviced in years, at one point didnt have power steering fluid for ages, interior is always full of rubbish ect ect.
so yea, they can have their problems.
dam you bro treats his car like crap haha
rob were do u find these cars!!
sooo jelous
my current driver was on ebay i snapped it up fast and the vn was from a friend of a friend without a brain just lucky i suppose i paid 175 for my first vp needed the oil pickup cleaned did so and over a few meets killed it on the strip just keep ya ear to the ground there always cheep and for the most part they have
very little to do to them having said that i do all my own work i do enjoy playing with my vn vps so all up ive had a few of them now oh and as a rule of thumb if its bog stock don't pay over 1000 for it heres what i got for 750 heres my new on road car![]()
