Hi,
Ive got a silver lock sitting inside on the front of the certre console, but i don't have a key, also i've got a padlock just under the plastic from the dash where you left foot would sit when you're driving, again with no key. Anyone no what these are for??? they have obviously been added but not sure y???
cheers
I may have broken the law, but that doesn't make it wrong!
unless the previous owner of your car is on here, no one is going to know what these added locks are for
the padlock is probably for a chain to the stearing wheel or brake pedal
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
if there's a lock in the front of the centre console, i'd unscrew the centre console and see whats' behind it. don't wanna mess with it if it's an immobiliser
take pics, will help us out to determine what they are doing there![]()
cheers guys, will get pics 2morrow. i really wanna know wat they are but dont wanna break anything in findin out![]()

Contact the previous owner and ask him before doing anything rash. I wouldnt go chopping away with bolt cutters straight away. Chuck some pics up.
a distraction from the real immobiliser![]()

I remember some of the old school alarm/immobilisers were key activated,i would've of thought that would've been way before the VN's time though.
Could be an activation switch off an old system that was never taken out.
I agree with the padlock idea of either chaining the break pedal or steering wheel. But having a chain wrapped around there...its anyone guess.
Cut it off & see what happens lol
"If you're going through hell, keep going"
are there any wierd marks on the steering wheel from a chain being wraped around it
as for the keylock it could have been moved there cause the 1 in the door jam looks smaller than what was there if you look at the paint ring around it
The only one I can say for sure is the lock in the pillar is a over ride switch for factory imobiliser that has a remote.
They were standard on VP's, however they were also fitted to VN Calais's but normally that switch was in the glovebox next to the boot release button.
As for for the chain and padlock

The lock in the door, is the factory VN calais over ride switch (key activated). But its normally mounted in the glove box, next to the remote boot release switch.
Lock in the centre console??? no idea
And the padlock chain, its probably wrapped around the metal behind the dash, or the heater box somewhere. Take the radio surround out and see.
Yeah, but we know where right.
To the OP pretty sure you can remove the centre console (or just the covers) and trace where the wires go. Or take the gear selector cover and radio surround, and post pics of whats underneath. Then we can go from there.
That's awesome. Maybe that chain is a structural join, and without it the car will break away from the motor?
