    Question my new ride or not?

    picked up a vehicle yesterday which is claimed to be a vp ss.

    the vin no is : 6T91NVS10N1JPL002
    the engine no is: NS10921567

    is this a genuine vp ss or is it not, there are no compliance plates but the rta (nsw) says that there is no problems with the vin no or engine no in terms of theft or write off.

    can anyone help?

    thanks and happy cruisin'

    The SS's are alot different. If it appears to be a SS it should be a SS. I don't think anyones going to bother making a fake one. If it's got IRS/FE2 the SS seats the body kit and all the badges, it's a SS

    Interesting that the specs say that Atlas Grey was only on VN SS. There's a VP SS for sale near me (overpriced at 7990) thats definately Atlas Grey with the correct paint code on the build plate. Rare or not?

    You've checked this paint code for yourself?
    ALOT of people mistake Atlas for Anthracite. If it is infact a VP with factory Atlas, i can't explain it, VP SSs were only released in 3 colours.

    The info callum got from SC is slightly wrong, the rear decals are on the BOOTLID, not the spoiler

    To the OP, that VIN is in a hell of a bad place.

    Heres mine next to yours, it should have similar sequence (obviously different model codes)

    6T91NVS10N1JPL002
    6H8 VP X 19 U P L628601

    6H8 (This is the Manufactures code )
    VP = VP
    X = Calais (yours should be K for exec)
    19 = Sedan
    U = V8 (engine code, V6 is H)
    P = Year code (1993, N = 1992)

    Specifically the red, this is the body number, ALL commodores have one, and it should be L and 6 digits (obviously pretty close to my number). Yours is so wrong with only 3 digits.

    So yours should read something like this 6H8VPK19UPL123456 (Last P depends on the year)

    If your meaning lexcen, it would still have the holden code, as they are the company who made the car

    One place to look is the body tag under the left headlight. If the car has those numbers stamped on the car as a set of replacement numbers because of trhe VIN plates and body plates have been removed. But some times the body tag is missed 9under the left headlight)

    T = Toyota
    L = Holden

    But the VIN quoted by the OP is nothing to do with a Holden or Toyota as it's a replacement VIN so none of the letters or numbers relate to the standars set of VIN codes.

    Which makes the thread useless, no-one will ever be able to identify the car that way
