Got a real annoying problem with the VN. When the torque covnerter locks in at 80-100km/h, i get a real bad vibration through the entire car. i thought it was the tailshaft but looks like i was wrong.
i took the old tailshaft out, and the CV joint was absolutely rooted, so i thought i had found the problem. put a new tailshaft in, but the problem remains. what else could cause this vibration?

worn out torque converter clutch replace torque converter
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
ok so far ive replaced the tailshaft and the transmission mount, same problem. would it be the torque converter? i also have 3.45:1 diff gears if that matters. they cause the tcc to lockup earlier than usual

i had the same issue it turned out to be a miss fire one of my coils had a crack in it but would only show up wile the car hit overdrive at 80 plus km per hour
having said that ive never heard of my issue causing my problem before but its always worth a look
i will also be looking at doing my converter soon i have 2 good spares![]()

Definately could be the converter. Had a similar problem with mine. Soon as the converter would lock up if I gave it light throttle just cruising I'd get a brutal noise through the car. Checked the rear end and even replaced a few bits but it ended up being the lock up clutch. Definately worth a look.
You have obviously checked your engine mounts aswell?

it defenetly sounds like the lock up in the converter is rooted, exchange converter is about $300
Im having this trouble too! i sent the vn to my local mechenic and he said its the center breaing its worn out. But i didnt hink the Vn had a center breaing in the tail shaft?
ok changed the coils. vibration is still there

Used to have a VN v6, similar thing to Rob drag racer, but it was the HT leads breaking down. Once it dropped into 4th, under a slight load it felt like the rear axle was going to fall out. Very alarming!!
Manually lock it back into 3rd and it was fine.
it only seems real bad when its under load when its locked up. once it unlocks, the vibration goes away. should i check out the leads next?

ill look into it i have only just changed the coils
id check the leads like i said better to check than to do all that work and it not be the issue like red truck said its like ya diff is going to spit its self out from the vibration

ok my torque converter is stuffed i just checked their are shavings in the oil so gear box might be stuffed too. Does the torque converter from a vs fit vn? and is the v6 auto a t350 or something else?
