Just thought id let yas know some info on coil parks. The standered coil packs have all three coils moulded in one unit. To buy a performance coil pack from repco it would coast you $400 it includes mounting brackets 3 later model Vs type coil packs and computer module. I had the chance to have a look at a set of these and found they are no different from the standered Vs/Vr coil packs. The old man is a autoelecy he checked them out with a multi meter. And then did the same with a set of Vs ones found out they where allmost identical. So i brought a set off Vs coils from the wreckers for $150. The vn feels more powerfull and responds better too.
Ok that is cheap! sorry i thought they where different to the vn s2 guess i was wrong. And can you tell me if the injectors fit from a vs? I hav allways been a skyline fan and own two myself untill i sold them because they are coming very common. And i have allways liked the idea of having a vn areo with v6 supercharged or turbo'd.
out of curiosity, is your aero a genuine or replica?
you can use l67 injectors and 2 bar map sensor if you want to go charged. search the sc-14 thread in the v6 modification section
was this done to a v6? interesting
I thought the difference between say MSD coil packs & standard ones was that they gave stronger spark at higher rpm? Saying that if your coil packs were tired & you replaced them the car would go better anyway one would yhink.
I got three new ones from Holden for i think around $40 each.
I think its a replica. Some parts dont make sence to be a genuine. And a local tuner says the eprom has no indetication to it being a real hsv 3800 tune but yet goes like it has one. And sladdo your right the msd do have higher voltage spark in the higher rev range. But as far as the coils go for stock vn s1 to vn S2 the later model coils have a higher voltage spark.
I just brought the champion coils from repco paid $58 each for them even after seeing the ones on e-bay for $40. I just replaced the plugs to platinum and leads to high performance and the champion coils, any ideas as it now backfires and run's really rough. VN CALAIS S1 V6
Do you live in qld? Just check to see if the insulators are over the sparkplugs. Check the spark plugs just because they are new does not mean that they are good. And test your leads for resistance they should all be around the same if one is no way near the others its stuffed or defected from factory.
just pm me if you need more help
