has anyone fitted 4:11 diff gears into their VN-VP V8 commodore?
I'm considering it but just curious as to how it drives & what sort of RPM it sits on at say 60 - 80 & 100kp/h
its not the everyday car but if its going to be revving like crazy when cruising it may be a better idea to look at another ratio?
Cheers

If its not purely a track car, 3.9s is the max i'd go.
I have 3.73s, and its a good medium gear. Not sure on the rpm, rarely look at the tacho.

agreed the 4:11 diff gears are only good for strip/launch thats one of my next upgrades for the vn it relay depends if ya want a cruise car go for just above the standard gears especially if ya do highway driving then ya get a bit of push but still have low end reves in top gear the 4:11 diff gears are bad if ya do any highway driving in my opinion

4.11s will sit you on 2500rpm at 100kph.

4.11's are burnout gears, especially if you got a puss V6 with no grunt![]()

the standard gears are 1500 rpm at 100 km per hour if that helps you decide what ya want

I swear standards rev at 1900rpm in overdrive (0.70:1) at 100kph.

How do you tell if you have different diff gear ratios? I bought my car about 4 months ago. It sits at about 2100 - 2200rpm on 100km/h in 5th (manual). Are my gear ratios standard?
Best way to tell, is to jack the car up and mark the tailshaft + tyre with chalk in one spot. Then turn the wheel, and see how many revolutions the tailshaft does for one full turn of the wheel.
You should be pretty well able to estimate whether it's doing 3 revolutions or 3.5 revolutions (approx).
Sounds to me, if you're getting around 2100rpm at 100kph, you're running 3.45:1 gears![]()

Sweet. Sorry about all the questions, but what are the advantages of having 3.45:1 over 3.08:1?
is less top end considered an advantage tho?![]()
