By the sounds of it you need a wheel balance. My brother had the exact same problem. As soon as he hit 100kms the steering wheel would shake, and when he was hitting around 140kms the wheel was just going crazey. Went and got a wheel balance and it was perfect. No vibrating or shaking what so ever.

or tie rod ends, when i was driving around in one of my cars the tierod ends are fully gone . rattles like a bitch, just go through and check all the ball joints, tie rod ends, front strut insert nuts. also while the car is on the ground grab the top of the wheels and pull and push violently and see if u get any rattles

Outer tie rod end's... jack up the front of your car til the front wheels are off the ground and grab a hold of the wheel and try and move it around... if it feels like the wheel is loose and not on properly it your outer tie rod end's...

good luck mate.. if it is those get it fixed ASAP.. it the joint breaks apart = BIG trouble...
