Default VP Wagon wont start, Fuel pump?

Hi guys, i have a vs but my mate traded a gps for a vp wagon with 211 thousand k's on the clock. when you try start the car you cant hear the fuel pump priming and the previous owner said that was all that it needed to run. we cant even get it to turn over at the moment. anything we should check or is changing a fuel pump in the vp's hard?
    Thanks guys.

GPS for a VP Wagon? Sounds like a pretty sweet idea!

Try checking out the cable plugging into the DFI module under the Ignition Coils. I had an issue where there was heaps of crap built up underneath it, so pulled it all apart, cleaned it out, sprayed some WD-40 and bobs your uncle. Give it a shot, Worse case you waste 10 minutes and a couple drops of WD 40.
