Well recently got a '89 VN beater to do up as a daily.
In the past have had: HQ Kinger, VP wag, VT sed, VS sed and now the VN wag
Been spending the last 3 weeks pretty much replacing or fixing EVERYTHING.
Now my question. I remember back to my VP days that on heavy acceleration the driveline had some vibration. Now, with the VN it feels similar but it really rattles the gear stick especially in 3rd gear load. I checked the tail shaft and the uni's were fair flogged so found another tail shaft which was in much better cond. Yet the vibration remains. Gearbox mount is good and the engine mounts are good (replaced the engine recently)
Now... am i just being too critical of the old girl? is that what manual VN's are like?
Check the upper and lower trailing arm bushes, and the panhard rod bushes. Diff angle can play a huge part in driveline vibration. I've almost eliminated all driveline vibration in my VP by keeping the rear-end in check.![]()
Check out my VP right 'ere!
Thanks, but that all done mate
pressure plate - how good is it?
But if it's only in 3rd - bearing in the box probably
White 05 V6 VZ Executive - Thrashed Ex Telstra car
and 3 Dangerous non ABS VN's
Just put in new clutch kit. and was the same b4 new clutch.
Lay shaft in the box probably has fubar bearings. Around $400 for a new set of bearings not including whatever else is buggered. You r/r the box.
