Hey
I have replaced the cas checked for error codes a second computer, cleaned battery terminals ,checked fuses .It would run then stall but since the new cas wont even start ! Where should i head from here is driving me nuts . Before i changed anything i could move it up and down the drive way at least.
I have no error code comes back as twelve http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...milies/cry.gif
If you have a series 1 engine which is older Vn's well the crank angle sensor has to be adjusted so the fins on harmonic balancer dont touch each other ...
Crank angle sensor reads the fins on balancer for timing .... if sensor is old and is dieing then car will start but stall once car warms up and can also cause bad idle if sensor gets oil on it and if its physically damaged then car wont start at all ..
dumb ass mechanic I took car to didnt adjust it so first turn of ignition it chewed the $90 sensor
the newer series engine the CAS is different and just bolts on with no worries..
You have to make sure you have bought the correct sensor for that engine and that if its older design then have to adjust it slightly.
Get a really bright torch and hold it under the balancer where the CAS sits and see if the fins have touched it, you should see if sensors been damaged as when the fins even touch the sensor it pulls it in and rips it apart.
few months ago I was driving ... car backfired and wouldnt start ... my fuel pump and CAS died in one go .. make sure you can hear fuel pump sound when you turn ignition key.
If you check all things I have said then try also taking battery off for 5 mins ... as to reset the ecu and clear it of error codes.
Vn executive 1990 200,000kms as of 13/6/08 , oil changes every 5000kms since it rolled out the factory , strut brace for hard cornering, kn pod filter, Ngk iridiums sports exhaust..what else can I say I love my holden![]()
