So, I've been running this Commie for a while, it's gone through an engine change recently, exact swap because it wasnt my car at the time.
Anyway, I'm on LPG, and I have a guage to read the level, but it says nothing all the time. It never has said anything, we've just made sure to have some petrol and switch over when it starts to die. Anybody got some experience with LPG?
The other issue is the horn. To put it bluntly, it doesnt work. Or rather, it does work, but only when the engine isnt running and if you turn the wheel a to a certain angle. Any help there would be cool.
navigator it might be an electric wirering problem mate
you might wanna get the gas lines checked mate
alright now i have to ask a question if you can anwser it for me....
Q. do you think a 8L[V8] will fit straight into my vp commodore[wagon] cas my old man sed i need to exstend the gurds out a little bit but i dnt belive him thats why im asking you....may you could tell me if i have to do anything to it or not????????????
RoCk On HoLdEn....
an 8l probably won't fit, but a 5ltr will fit without any problems at all.
and to the OP, there should be a mechanical (maybe only looking) gauge on the tank itself, under the inspection plate. next time you fill up, check this gauge and see what it says. it may not say 100% full as the tank is only meant to fill to 80% capacity. and you'll also find it's horribly inaccurate, it'll stay there for 200ks then start dropping off at the last 50ks. it's probably just a sender issue though, or maybe your gauge is fluxed
Mines the same, sender is ****ed, gaudge says full all the timei just go of the k's. when the odo hits 460 time to start looking for a servo to fill up, its pretty consistant, 450-500 per tank. 550 if i grany it, My cars good in a way, it doesnt just " die " when its nearly empty itl rev happy till 4, then as it empty's more it drops accordingly. 3-2-1.5 then idle lol.
from about the 4 mark ive got 10k to find a servo, but i always have some petrol in the beast . Running lean cant be good for it.
Ok, I checked the mechanical gauge on the tank. It shows a reading, which is more than what I was expecting. Since the gauge says its empty, but the mechanical gauge actually says how much I have, I figure there must be something wrong with the Sender or the actual gauge. Would I be right there?
Your horn problem is probably 1 of 2 things.
1) Faulty ground, more common if an aftermarket wheel has been added
2) Faulty horn contact (the little brass pin behind the steering wheel) again common if aftermarket wheel is used, as the boss kit can sometimes grind away at it, until it dosn't make contact.
push the top of the wheel in and use the horn, does it work???
