ive joined the dark side and im getiin rid of the vl for a vn wagon.. anything i need to know before i buy this car? im buying it for 900 its got 2 months rego and its been a family car since new so it hasnt been flogged at all

Check the front end, bushes ect when I got mine that set me back 600 to replace every single bush (paid mechanic prices and put them in myself) then another 2000 for the rack and pinon to be replaced..

you might as well have gotten a new car. haha just kidding mate. thanks for that. ill post some pics of it up.. either way its better than the vl i have (it was good when i first got it) im not gonna thrash this one though. im gonna keep my vl at my mates farm so we can thrash that.
and i hope the clean vk your selling isnt the one in your photo haha or is that your dirty one?

hey mate. from experience, i probably wouldnt get a vn. mine cost me 1800, then i spent 3200 getting it roadworthy.. however, if its registered and been a family car sounds good. mine was "a family car" and there was things that made me think otherwise (2.5 inch exhaust tip, sony xplod, lowered..) but then, my mechanic said "this mount has been bent, which means somebody has gone around a corner sideways, and hit the gutter, pretty bad too." and i was like hm, nice to know i got ****ed over by some 50 year old guy who was selling it for a p plater.. but if the one you want really has been a family car. good luck sounds good mate:P

I left out the the bullshit pedders something point test suspension adjustment or something I'm not sure All up it cost 2000 I wouldn't know what was in there as dad organized it all and i just falked over the money. Now thinking about it I should have just got a 5 liter aye? xD

and make sure the rear main seal isnt leaking they are common in vns and suck to change a $20 part shop will charge $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

also if the trans isnt changing proply and changing hard its the kick down cable just in cas you could say the trans is stuffed and get it cheaper

oh and smell the trans oil for additives and make sure its red not black or brown aka burnt clutches

change:

engine oil
trans oil
diff oil
check water hoses
check water temp after long periods of running
check rad overflow bottle (by removing look for cracks)
check shocks
check bushes

upgrade brakes, stock vn brakes are dangerously bad. it's your car but highly recommend upgrading brakes before any performance things.

i wont buy another vn or vp im sick of engine issues my bottom end is about to fall out ive got the awful clunk happening lol so once its dead it will sit until i can be bothered rebuilding it as for the race project (s1vn) when that dies its getting a 308 carby convert and box

in conclusion if its a v6 i wouldn't trust it to much unless its been rebuilt recently more trouble than its worth really

thanks boys... i just took it for a bit of a drive and it just gets better and better every time i do. ill post some photos soon its a wagon. ill be taking it to the cruise for charity nsw one.. im looking forward to it. got some minor work to do on it before it though
