hey guys,
tonight i went to fire up my calais for the first time in about 8 months. since coming off the road it received new gaskets, YT roller rockers, all new sensors ect.. ect..
now, tonight i attempted to fire it up, with a small amount of stale fuel left in the tank i just added 5L of BP ultimate thinking i should burn majority of the stale fuel which doesnt get caught in the new filter anyway.
now it started and was runing for around a minute, had a slight miss in it, it then stalled, i looked around and found two leads around the wrong way, so i corrected this, and went to restart, and now it sounds asif there is no compression. just constantly cranking over and over, no fault being logged. the cranking no matter how long being held for does not increaser or sound like it attempts to fire.
has anyone ever heard of a H/G poping just like that? as ive heard a few motors with no compression and this sounds just like it.
i did a quick check through the oil cap while cranking for blow by and can not feel anything excessive, and the oil does not really look fueled. (but light was quite dim).
i am yet to double check spark and fuel as i ran out of light, but thought id throw it up here and see what anyone has to say about it.
cheers.
also, it is a v6 guys.
when you say it sounds like it has no compression,, is it turning over faster than usual?
hmmm, id just pul the efi relay an pull a couple plugs out.. so what the comp is if youve got a gauge if not see if it feels strong with your finger
also make sure its got fuel at the rails 5l isnt much,
it stopped after u changed some leads around.. sure u got the firing order corect... check that first.... pull each lead check for spark, check if fuel is pumping thru rail././ 5L of fuel is bugger all... put a few more than that in unless it had heaps to start with..
the firing order is correct. ill put a bit more fuel in it tommorrow, the fuel pump is definately priming. and really if it was a lack of fuel itd normally cough and splatter.atm i have none of that.
I hate my missus VP! I had to borrow it for like 3 weeks for work and during that 3 weeks - it wouldn't start in the morning like 3 times. For no reason it seemed, just would rev up but not turn over. Pile of dogs nuts.
i did the leads on the wrong plugs and it was a costly mistake. unburnt fuel when into the cat and then ignited. causing the cat to fail and the car wouldnt start. four 15 mm bolts with sum wd40 and check your cat. its more than likely had it
also dont keep cranking it over, you will cook the starter motor and the power leads to it
or just take the cat off and try and fire her then
the cat is an interesting theory, ill look into that today. cheers.
Just hollow out the cat mate, you dont really need it and it resticts the flow. The environment and global warming is not really on any commodore drivers mind considering there fuel economy.
lol i can see sumone wants to get pinged a nice hefty fine
id say the cat to sounds like its not breathing unless its got no spark that is
i wont tolerate cretins aiming to cause problems here at jc and nor will i hesitate to let the moderators know
