So i've picked up these 5 spoke 15" alloy mags for my VN commo cheap. Now, I'm new to all this.
I've bought a cheap Metal brush to clean in inside of the rims which mad 'em come up real nice (not completely clean, but fair). Once the water dries, i can see all these faint scratch marks EVERYWHERE. Is there anyway i can fix this? like a light sand? Spray on enamel?
With that said, can anyone recommend any heavy duty cleaner to really make that dirt and grim go?
Last thing. Would it be worth re-painting the rims, If so, how??
LOL u wouldnt think a wire brush would scratch the shit out of them? next time use a scotch pad and lightly
Well, My mate isn't the brightest spark

Use mag wheel cleaner or strong degreaser or if you work quickly, oven cleaner (use gloves), with a green scourer pad or nylon laundry brush. Sand bright area (like rim edging) with 800 wet and dry (or 600/1000). Mask bright area and paint with two pack enamel.
Best results with paint stripper and a lathe.
Cheers Steev, I ended up taking to them with some 800 wet and dry, then went over again with 1200 which got rid of the wire brush marks.
I've never had dirty wheels that some brake cleaner + soapy water + kitchen sponge couldn't fix.

to clean my dirty wheels i normally use a chamois or a tissue (or several tissues).. it just takes a little while, and hurts your hands especially when its cold but they come up super sparkling clean
I got this wheel cleaner from my mate, its a foam and you just spray it on and wash/wipe it off in a couple minutes..... i usually wipe it off, gets all the dirt off my rimsmaybe go past supercheap or something, im sure they would have something like that (btw its wheel cleaner not tyre shine)
Real Dirty Mags!! in disappointed now i thougt it was a dirty porno mag
vn mags may have been painted silver not polished.
That would explain the ease off scratching.
