so yeh, the diff oil has never been changed, the car is just about to hit 210,000kms.

i have the correct oil and amount, i had a look today. There's a rubber filler plug but there's no drain plug, how ya supposed to change it? do i have to remove the whole rear housing?
You're probably wondering where you are. I'll tell you where you might be. You might be in the room that you die in. This is your wake up call.

you just remove the bottom bolt on the back of it. It looks the same as the other 10, but is actually a drain plug.

i think you just remove most of the bolts so theres a gap in between the backing plate and diff and it will just drain out

but dont trust this advice lol i've never done it

mmm. In IRS cars it's just the bottom bolt. I can't remember if that's the same for live axle. I don't believe it is. If it is, I'm an idiot, my rear axle has been in and out more times than I care to remember and I never found a drain plug.

OP, 200,000 with no diff oil change is no big deal at all. My VN had hit well over 500,000km before it got an oil change in the LSD. It still didn't work, so I threw it in the bin and built a minispooled rear axle

It's the other way around. On live axle, it's just the bottom bolt. For IRS, there's a special drain bolt on the driver's side of the housing.

lol wow, I AM an idiot. I pulled my diff apart 3 or 4 times between two bent axles, an axle leak, seized centre bearings, etc.. and never found the drain plug

Ended up getting it built professionally for $650. Shame, it's backlashing already

well, either i have a different diff or you guys are wrong. there's no drain plug, i had to remove the whole rear housing to drain the oil, took a bit of time but yeh, at least i got to see inside the diff.

the oil was greeny metallic brown, with a putrid smell that says in your mouth and nose

Nup, not easy at all. Use enzymes. LOTS of enzymes. Anything with enzymes and even then, it'll take a few washes. I just use old shitty clothes i can throw out or tear into rags for working on my diff.
