Ok i tried to search for this already but i just got confused I never find what im aftre with that thing. What i want to know is which is a stronger box to put behind a VN v8 the t5 or getrag? I will be doing a manual conversion later this year when fund are up again so I thought I'd look further into this in advance.
Well the T5 is at least as strong and it will go into the VN without the all clutch/speed sensor troubles you might have with the getrag so there's no need to choose
cheers for that, clutch isnt a drama just use all the vs setup but yeah i didnt think about the speed sensor stuff. So T5 may be a lil stronger but your not sure?
Just read what greenfoam said once more....

.....
The T5 is just as strong, and easier to deal with.
cheers mate i'll guess i'll stick with the easy conversion............ till i get the $$$$ to go t56 one day
The Getrag has better ratios & personally i think its a more fun 'box but is more expensive to fix should something go wrong. I have to pull the Getrag outta me mates VT cuz hes done the 2nd gear synchro & also hard to get into 4th.
sorry for semi hijacking..
i was thinkin bout whether its possible to put my vt getrag into my vp ss, but since its a v6 getrag would it be not as strong as the t5?
what sort of troubles are there if i wanted to stick it in? alot?
I'm not sure what the difference between the V6 and V8 getrag is, on the T5 the V6 input shaft is longer but the splines are the same so you have to get them machined shorter. The getrag.. who knows they maybe the same or they may also have a longer shaft
ah yea, wont bother, ill get a t5 in the future
