    Default VN Cold Air Intake

Hey everyone, just wondering how to install a cold air intake on my VN V6

It seems as though the pipe that came with the cold air intake in the photo above wont fit in my standard airbox, do i need to cut and make it bigger?
and also do i screw the front bit down to the radioator protecter at the front of the engine?
    thx in advanced

Yep and yep. I just used a hacksaw blade on my airbox, but a dermel would make things easier

Anyone know how to dodgy up an intake similar to the yella terra one?

Is it even possible with a vn airbox?

I could easily build it myself, just curious if its possible.

Im hanging out to do it.

    1. First Things First, unclip the top of the airbox, and move it out of your way.

    2. Unscrew the bottom half of the airbox and take it out. you will need to make the exisitng hole larger to fir the new CAI.

    3. Using precision cutting, and marking the size of the new CAI ( or you could be like me and hold the new CAI over the hole and trace around it, then just start cutting very roughly) make the hole larger to fit the new Intake, i just used a hacksaw and started cutting until i could squeeze in the bit of the intake.

    4. screw the box back into the engine bay and and then fit your snorkel (the piece that connects the CAI to the box) to the airbox, depending on your model it may be difficult, i had to squeeze the snorkel between to pipes to get it to fit in right.

    5. Connect your CAI to the snorkel and position it so the CAI sits on top of the radiator.

    6. To ensure the CAI doesnt go moving about while driving you need to fasten it to the Radiator shroud, the Plastic covering over the radiator. This is actually very easy if you use self tapping screws, and cause a lot less swearing and anger than trying to use bolts and nuts.

    7. Once the CAI has been screwed in double check its all tight and connected, and viola.

TVR, when you attached new pipe to the existing airbox, what keeps it secure? Does it have to be %100 air tight??

It sorta gets wedged in there, as the pipe slots into the CAI, then press's it against the air box.

Should have some foam around it, the same stuff that you put on your house doors ways so when you shut the door there is no drafts and movement lol

Theres normally a foam ring around it that keeps it in, my hold I had to force it in because it was a little small, so mines air tight =D

    no, only money

haha but seriously, your car will draw 95% of its air through the guard hole. You'll find the SS induction is a waste of time and space if the rest of the system isn't airtight. That, and the air coming through the guard will be colder anyway.

i bought mine off ebay, they are genuine the come in 1 package ( 1 part number ) sorry mate lost the part number. the flow's good with a pannel filter thats what there designed 2 work with, on a vn vp the bonnet is straight across the front so u get great flow and the idea is when u get 2 a certin speed the engine doesnt have 2 draw air it get thrown in anyway so its easyer on ur engine i recomend it.

There is a link above for you. Otherwise go to ebay and type in the search 'commodore cold air intake'
Its cheaper to buy it direct from Holden Spare Parts.

I think its $50 something if i remeber correctly, just go oin and as for a VS supercharged v6 CAI. You can buy the proper box for an extra cost (don't know it didnt get it) or you could just cut your stock hole so it fits, both work ones cheaper.
