Where can the engine number on a V6 VP Calais be found?

its on the front of the block, directly inbetween the water pump and A/C compressor. you may need to scrub a bit to find it.

8 digits? Mines only 7, and has the letters "VH" infront of it.

Hmm, that may be a part number for something then.

Water pump is right under the alternator right?

Definitely 7 numbers with a VH prefix, the VP engine numbers can be difficult to see as it isn't stamped as clearly as the VN engines, I had to give the front of the block there a quick wipe over at Vicroads so they could validate the engine number when I put the VP donk in the wagz
